Why was GTA IV so poorly optimized when it came out for PC?

I don't think it really matter what kind of setup you've got because the port was terrible.

 

I have to agree, GTA IV was among the worst pc ports that were ever done.

 

I am sure if you boil it all down it comes down to money in some way or another. Not enough funding or efforts or something along those lines.

 

I think perhaps they rushed it

 

They didn't even take enough time to do their job.

 

A lot of people play GTA games on pc, so I don't see any reason why the devs should failed to do their job well.

 

I think PC games require a lot of tuning because they have different configuration to test. So it's better to wait in most of the cases.

 

Those sound like a bunch of excuses. If they are not up to the job, then maybe they should outsource the work to people who can.

 

I also believe that there are people who can do a better job.

 

There is a ton of capable devs who I personally know can do an excellent job.

 

Let's just hope for the best.
