I thought that CJ was cool he was the first main black character in GTA history. He had family problems which who does not have family problems especially in the hood. Not to mention CJ had to deal with a crooked cop like Tenpenny voiced by Samuel L. Jackson.

I like how much of a heart CJ had. Tommy and Claude in previous games were kind of heartless, but CJ had a good sense of what was right and wrong for the most part. He has easily been the most relatable character in GTA history for me. There is no surprise he's probably the most liked character in the franchise.

I've always empathised with him, there's not a sole doubt about it. In fact, what I enjoy about him is that he can easily be put in the role of the stereotypical - at the same time clichéd - protagonist who always needed to strive for his survival by any means, including but not limited to burglary, killing, theft and bank robberies. But, he didn't recourse for a scapegoat, he always managed to get out of his situations, but the guilt needed to be put on oneself, anyway. He also had confidence in others, the 2 most notable examples would be Ryder and Big Smoke in which he put all his hopes to get past his mother's death but, upon betraying him, he didn't stay and watch, but took action and, eventually, killed them. For some, San Andreas was a game in which you could blow cars, kill people and such, but you need to pay attention to the storyline if you haven't because it's very sad, in fact.

CJ was my favorite but it's hard to say he was the best. I found him to be relatable as some sort of plain guy who got twirled up into a fucked up situation due to circumstance, but I don't think he is better or worse than any other GTA characters by a huge margin.

Yes, he's funny, witty and a badass at the same time.

My most favourite quote from him:

"Does the pope shit in the woods?"

Cj is by far my favorite although I'm not sure if he is the greatest. I play SA at least once a week for a few hours still. I can relax and just drive around, use a cheat or two when i get bored and have some down time. Cj is a huge part of that.

Alright, I changed my mind upon replaying a few GTA games here and there: We're obviously not talking just playable characters, but ALL characters. So my answer is Mike Toreno, because of his many golden conversational pieces. E.g.
"Would I shit you, Carl? Here's a boat."
This man is a true work of art.

No way, I didn't play Vice City, but Niko to me was honestly the best because of his American Dream storyline.

Michael from GTA5 is truly a game changing character, but I have to admit CJ was the greatest character of all time. He was funny, he definitely was sad when his mother had passed, and he felt regret when his mother was involved in gangs.

CJ is cool but I don't know if he's the best GTA character ever. I'm a fan of Trevor Phillips from GTA V. He's utterly insane and unpredictable and has some of the funniest lines in the game. He's also loyal to his friends and ready to go kick someone's ass if they mess with Michael or his family.

I actually think GTA:San Andreas was the best game (for single player) to be released, it placed players into an detailed environment never before experienced in a game. CJ was an awesome character and you really do become him when you play through this game, but I think the game itself is what made SA the best GTA (for single player) and with that CJ being the best protagonist.

I think he's pretty good in San Andreas but he's not my favorite character or think he's the best Grend Theft Auto in my opinion. I believe all of the Grand Theft Auto characters have their own unique story. I can't really say who is the best, they're all good.

He's certainly the funniest character in the series. I think I still prefer Tommy over him. I've always loved mobster movies and he has the old mobster flair.

He's kinda the stereotypical african american getto boy, but I liked him.

I would say that CJ was one of the best characters of all time, but one of the best should also be Tony. I enjoyed playing all of the characters but these two are my top liked characters of all time.

CJ wasn't even the best character in San Andreas, he had no real motivation for half the stuff he did, his morals were flexible as hell and his voice acting could get incredibly grating at times. My favorite character in SA was Cesar, just because he was the only guy who seemed to have his brain screwed on right most of the time.

My favorite, although he couldn't swim ;-), was Tommy Vercetti, on the other hand CJ and the whole gangster-ghetto setting was something completely different. I can see why many people didn't quite enjoy the whole scenario, but honestly I found it pretty interesting and the gang wars were one of my favorite features in any of the GTAs.

Yes, I definitely think that CJ was the best character of the series. I know that San Andreas was my favorite installment in the series. I'm not sure why, exactly, I just really liked it. And a big reason for that was CJ.
