I recently got tired of GTA V and bought IV on steam because I haven't played it since like 2010 on xbox 360, the problem is that the performance is waaay worse than I expected, im getting for the most part 60-80 fps but in certain spots of the city and when I drive fast it can drop to 40 ish which is annoying. My specs: GTX 1060 3GB and i7 4770. Also, is there any good simple trainer for spawning vehicles/teleporting etc?
I think that you should upgrade your software too. In my opinion, your hardware is fit for the game but if you are not still satisfied then you should upgrade your graphics card and the ram for more better results.
You are running out of the hardware specification. Why don't you buy a new system and enjoy all those games on it? Even you can just upgrade the graphics card and processor. This game can still run best with current specifications.
What ? This game came out in 2008/9 and he has a fairly modern gaming machine. How is upgrading going to help him ? @serbog I don't think you can do anything about the frame drops. I think pretty much everyone experiences them.
I saw a link somewhere of how to improve game performance but I forget the name. I will post it after I find it.
It's quite hard to improve performance if it's already running poorly. I'd recommend disabling everything else on your PC while playing GTA, and perhaps get an app or two to utilize your system better.
