The thing is, if you re a PC gamer, you have to own Steam to be ale to play most of the games that launch nowadays. It's impossible to enjoy gaming without it.

I like it and I have little to no complaints about it. I think it's a very good addition not only for the PC market but for gaming overall as it pushes others to do more with their technology.

I hate the monopoly that steam has become considering the lack of helpful support they offer it pains me to have to depend on steam so much. I fear the day if anything goes wrong over there and god forbid I lose access to all my games, because of steams DRM. The lack of support will most likely mean that I will lose all my money and games. I still wish that physical copies of PC games was a thing. I will always feel safer and more secure holding a disc in my hand than a bunch of digital 1's and 0's that could one day be rendered worthless.

Well, that's the way things have swung in last coupe of years. I am afraid there isn't much one can do about it.

To each their own I guess but I can't stand physical games, the idea that people buy games on disks seems so absurd to me it's funny.

Also they will never be worthless. The games will never leave your account and if Valve shuts down you still keep all your games.

Steam is a good store to purchase games from and they always have deals on games. I only with they would make the whole ui different so it can look better and be more functional. Since I have a 1080p monitor it is hard sometimes to read small text in the app.

Try to download some themes designed for televisions, like Metro for steam. Some of those might help. Or just launch Steam in big picture mode, it's perfect for TVs since the text is really large

Steam has its problems and detractors, but it's fine for what it is. You can get great content, great deals, and yeah. That's Steam.

How sure are you of that look at all the games that need steam in order to connect you to other players. If steam is no more how will you connect. Even better question if you cant even sign in to steam itself how will you be able to play your games? I have many insecurities when it comes to major corporations who just want my money.

So you just trust Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo just like that? That's nonsense. Valve issued a statement clearly saying you keep your games even if valve shut down. And if you don't want that, get DRM free games, you own all the games you get that way and no need for an internet connection for that. In the end, PC gaming is always better.

First off I dont trust anybody who is after my money. I know steam has said that but Im the super cautious type to fear that either they wont live up to their promise or some sort of problem/emergency keeps them from fulfilling their agreement. What I do trust is a physical disc in my hand that I can put into my system or pc install the game if it needs to or just play off it directly. That is what I trust. I think gaming period is always better regardless of where you do it. Of course some methods are better than others but not everyone can swim, or dunk a basketball etc.. What I mean by this is that some people cant get into other forms of gaming due to financial status, intelligence with the tech, or any other reason.

You're right and I think this is the concern of many customers in Steam. I think they really should present their consumers with what their backup plan would be in case they one day shut down.

The thing about disks is they break, DRM free copies do not, they're just like discs but more reliable because you own the files and can back them up. About the financial thing, don't go buying $60 discs when I buy £20 digital copies and then complain about expensive prices, that's hippocritical.

I dont know who buys PC games full price anymore be it digital or physical I haven't paid $60 for a PC game in forever. True discs break and scratch but digital games are also liable to some sort of damage be it file corruption, or other breaking bugs. Although you have the ability to re-download in most cases its not much of a problem compared to disc which are usually permanent. But you also need to consider that unless you are some careless kid who tosses things around a disk can be damage free for its entire lifetime of use. Since some games you only need the disc to install and then you never use them again I dont see how they can break or scratch form the safety of the case it came in.

Games on PC are never $60, they're always lower: See the Witcher 3 for example. And the only way to damage a digital copy is to deliberately do it, and you have infinite downloads so it doesn't really matter.

First you say dont go buy $60 dollar games then you say PC games are never $60 which one is it. Also Digital games can easily get damaged without you having to intentionally damage it. Every thing in a computer is liable to corruption its just how things are. I majored in Computer Science and engineering with a minor in network administration. And I can tell you things go wrong for a number of reasons user input being at the very bottom of the list. Also I already acknowledged the fact that you have the opportunity to re download games.

Yep, and I play the market. It's a great way to earn a few dollars here and there.

I also don't think there are many cons, it allows you to share games with friends which is awesome if you know someone who wants to try out a game.

I have steam and the reason I love it because of the deals. Weekly deals or Summer/Autumn/Winter Deals are my favorites. I've bought many games on steam last week.
