Hmm, I suppose so. I do like the races in GTA, especially in GTA5. Still, to make it a main focal point in the game would be detrimental, and lose sight of what the original concept of GTA is.
I would not. There are so many thing to do in GTA besides racing, and limiting to only racing would ruin the game. They could release a side racing game, if there are many people asking for it, with the same game engine and such.
Well, if it was just for racing I'd still give it a try, I'd find it enjoyable but I'd definitely wouldn't play it too long, I'd go for some NFS instead. Like the OP said, it would be too much like other games that already exists out there on the market. GTA's main charm is the ability to do almost anything you want anytime you want.
You guys do realize that if it was just a racing game, they'd have to change so many things. The title wouldn't even be relevant anymore. Rockstar would have to change the story layout to take out the heists and all the criminal activities that don't have to do with stealing cars. It would not be the same game, and I wouldn't like that.
I probably wouldn't play it as much as I play it right now, because as much as I love the racing aspect of it, I love the game because of it's other aspects (like heists, shooting around, running over pedestrians etc.). Maybe I would try to play it, but I would say that it would get boring fast. Maybe it would be interesting if they would change something in the game itself so it wouldn't be as boring if it would be only a racing game.
I don't think I'd play it, even if the driving is very good in the game, it's not good enough to make it as just a racing game, there are lots of pure driving games that do it much better than GTA.
I don't think I would. Racing is fun, but it's just an extra perk. The rest of the game is what makes GTA worth playing. You get to let all of your anger out on unsuspecting fictional characters. It might be the next best thing to therapy.
The racing on it is good, but I don't think I would play it. The game would be pretty bland with only racing and I would have much better choices for that.
Well, you can even go to therapy in the game itself so that's even better! hehehe! The game lacks a lot of things to make it a competent racing game...
The next GTA release might take this into account, and have a racing section and also a normal GTA gameplay section.
That would be pretty cool I suppose. Incorporating a massive street racing network would make it a heavyweight competitor against games like The Crew.
Probably. It would depend on how it competed against other racing games, and if it had a good story. If the mechanics stay the same then probably no. They would have to tweak the driving physics for it to work as a stand alone racer.
It would match the title of the franchise greatly. But I don't think that the franchise would survive like that. But if the series started as a racing game, no doubt it would have become a hit.
the driving was not my favorite in gta 5 but its not that ba. i wouldnt play it just as a rcaing game for sure. the fact that there is so much more to do makes it so much more enjoyable!
Sure, a GTA with racing as its main component? I'd dig that. I never liked the whole crime thing anyway.
While I respect your opinion, I think you are in minority here. Being able to get down from car and blast everything off is the best thing one can do in this game.
Believe it or not, I actually would. Rockstar has great driving mechanics, especially in GTA 5. It would be a great arcade racer, and I would have a lot of fun with it. It could also benefit from Rockstar's work ethic and constant updates, which would add new content all the time. The customization would probably be great too.
I would not play GTA if it only a racing game. It just wouldn't be the same. I play Gran Theft Auto for the missions and petty crimes. If I want to race, then I'll just play a racing game.
