The dashboard view is fine. It's not that hard to get the hang of, and sometimes it can be more preferable than other views. I use it from time to time for this reason.
You're right. It does kind of work against you that all you have to base your decisions on is one flat screen in front of you, and also good point on probably being more able to use this more when you have the track memorized. I'll try and use the first person view on some of my more memorized tracks next time to test it out.
Glad you see what I mean. Still, I have myself curious now. I also kind of want to try and see if it works for me on tracks that I know really well. You know, to put my theory to the test.
I love playing racing games in POV. It does get me dizzy a bit, especially when the game runs at 60fps, but it's my preferred way to play.
Haha yeah same here. I've memorized a good number of tracks in my video game racing career but I never thought to even go back and try them in a different view. I suspect older ones that I've sort of forgotten about will seem a lot less familiar but I guess with enough practice anything is possible.
Same here. I've played a lot of games throughout my life, and that does include racing games. I have some tracks still down pat. So, I think I will try using dashboard view and see if I still fare well.
I don't. I usually play with dashboard view when I don;t have a wheel. Then I can see how much the in-game wheel is turning, and the whole first person feel makes me more comfortable.
I don't really get dizzy but its not my favorite way to drive. I tend to crash more driving like that. I might try to do it more often though because its interesting.
after extensive use with the dashboard cam i always become a bit sick to my stomach for some reason. for me dizzy not so much, although i try to stay away from it as much as i can unless it son a cool game like rogue squadron 3
When you have a wheel in your hands and play in dashboard view it takes the immersion to a whole new level. Like Elite Dangerous with a joystick.
I feel at home with the interior view, it's the only way I drive proficiently. I can't calculate my turns with the exterior view and it's nice to see the gauges and steering wheel. I think the hardcore racing people like the interior view while casual people like exterior view. But if I'm driving a beautiful car I will drive in exterior for some time to bask in the beauty.
I don't think that I get dizzy I just do not like how it looks when you are playing in game it can make you miss corners and such.
I love the dashboard view, but I have never gotten dizzy from it. I've never actually gotten dizzy from any game where I wasn't spinning a camera 360 degrees for 5minutes straight at 8200 dpi however.
I have to say that playing the dashboard view is difficult and sometimes messy. Hard to judge the course and sliding factors when you cant see the bumper. Of course the dashboard view would be the closest view to the real thing, but in video games, I need the third person (behind the car) view at all times.
I never get dizzy playing with dashboard cam. That is my favorite camera view, to be honest. I like feeling like I am actually sitting in the car and driving it myself, and it even makes me drive BETTER in some games, rather than worse. Some games do it better, and some do it worse. Some games give you a good field of view, while in others, you feel like sitting in a box. Usually, if it feels like sitting in a box, I just switch to the third person view. But, most of the times, I use dashboard camera if there is one in the game, and I never get dizzy or sick or anything.
