I prefer to play with friends by far. It is mainly because of two reasons: 1) The AI in Mario Kart seems to kind of cheat with items, so that even if you dominate the whole race, you can lose due to some item. 2) Playing with friends by your side is uniquely fun. Their reaction to what's happening in-game, their frustration/celebrations, etc. it's all surreal and makes the game better in my opinion.
Good point on the AI. Often in many games, AI is good but never good enough to replace actual people competing. It's just more exciting when there are same stakes for you and your competitor.
I play with my friends as, it is more fun and can have snacks and also drinks together and have a good time when playing the game. We like to see who is better and, who takes longer to get to finish line and falls for the traps laid out in the game. Me and my friends play this game, two times a week along with other ones and like to challenge each other when playing this game at night. We enjoy crashing into each other, and trying to run each other off the track and get to the end as fast as we can.
I usually play with friends, because I find it much funner that way. I used to go over to my friends house all the time to play it with him, but he always beat me. Ever since I got the game and have practiced I have been consistently beating him.
I prefer to play solo because playing with my friends can cause conflict. It is more enjoyable that way too because you get to challenge the computer to see who has the better skill. To be honest, it helps me to become a better player.
Majority of the time I play by myself. I usually play online with other people. I only have a My kid is only two so I can't play with him. We do have nieces and nephews over and all of them seem to love the game. I bought a few refurbished wiimotes when Nintendo had them for $19 each so I have enough controllers for everyone.
For me playing solo is not as good as playing with friends. If you want to play alone, there are better games than Mario cart.
I'd like to be able to play with friends, but not many of them have a Wii U, so I settle to playing alone or with randoms. I think I prefer playing on my own in single player though, especially when there are people over to join in.
I think it really depends on my mood. Sometimes I just want to sit back and relax with a quick GP and other times I want to have some fun and get a little agitated lol. I bought this game so I could play with my bf but we don't always want to play at the same time. And I also play with friends when they come over, but as most of my friends aren't gamers, it's not something that happens often or for long periods of time. So, generally, I usually play alone lol But MK is one of those games that even playing alone, whether online or offline, it's still a complete hoot
This is the kind of game that no matter how I play it, whether alone or with friends, it is still an absolute blast. That said, most of the time I prefer to play it along with friends. Competition and the amount of laughs and fun it brings to the table, in my case, solo doesn't compare. It really ends up being a really different experience. With this game and with some friends? I get that motivated to beat just about every cup without a care in the world and try to hit that first place every time I can. Given that most of the friends I play with are gamers themselves, it really adds up to the races. There's always that feeling of who's going to win in first place and who's going to find themselves at the end of the line. The randomness adds that little extra fun to make play with my friends for hours and hours.
Of course playing solo just to sharpen my skills, learn all the shortcuts and locations of the power ups. Then after I've mastered the game, I'll call over a few friends, have a few beers, and then proceed to whip their asses. Hahahaha!!!!
I guess it really depends on the game: For games like Need for Speed or World of Speed, I prefer playing alone for some reason. But for games like Mario Kart 8, I think the experience is 10 times better if you play with your friends! I think to a large degree, what makes racing games so fun is the competitive nature that surrounds it, so that's why multiplayer matches (both online with strangers as well as your friends) are thrilling and fun!
I think that Mario Kart is horrible to play a lone. It is more fun to play with friends then bots. Also, with friends, there is an excitement buildup and the difficulty of bots compared to friends is much harder.
Whenever they are around or when I can reach them, I always play with friends. It adds so much more to the game and really makes it so much more fun. Mario Kart games are made to play with friends, and just don't have the same magic when you play alone.
Either way is fun for me. I would definitely give playing with friends an edge because of that competitive edge it gives to the game.
I don't have MK8 myself so I haven't soloed it, though I'm sure it's more fun when you're with good friends. After some time playing solo, it gets kind of boring (or atleast it did in MKWii), while with friends it's really funny and nice to have that competitive feeling.
The only time I would play alone is if I'm unlocking things in the circuit cups to get that Golden Kart. Other than that, this game is more fun with friends.
