I wouldn't want the game to be offline. I think a huge part of what makes this game fun to me is that you can actually drive along with other people in the whole map. Also the multiplayer races are very cool and the coop missions gave me tons of laughs.
The fact that you can complete the missions and drive with other people is a nice 2014 add on to racing games, but however, for old times' sake, I think it would be nice to be able to play offline a normal race. Plus, there's times when you don't have internet. If we don't have offline games then, what are we supposed to do? xD
This is the future of gaming. Blame Facebook or any other social network if you want but the whole shared connected experience has been pushed for many years now. It sucks when your internet goes out and you cannot progress anymore but honestly that isn't the developers fault. It's always nice when they are considerate to offline users and add some sort of mode that has some value even if it means you cannot save your game progress on the cloud servers.
It would be good if the Crew would be also available to play in the single player mode, but I don't wish for this as much as for the multiplayer mode. I've been looking forward to this game just because it's multiplayer and not because it's singleplayer.
Agreed. There are already many games that offer the piton to play offline in single player, so this new innovation is actually a welcome one for me even if I myself don't even really play online that much. I'm sure it will be an enjoyable feature if they do it right.
No I don't. Like I explained in the other thread about having to play with others: I think the MMO aspect adds more value into the game and it is what makes it unique compared to other racing titles.
It would be cool if they gave you an option to play single player, but being online just make it more fun. It does suck if you wanted to play offline, but everyone has online these days.
No! For single played mood we have NFS which is the best at it undoubtedly. The Crew is exactly as it was supposed to be, a great game to play online, which brings something new in the backdrop. I don't think this game will last too much, so I say enjoy it while it lasts friends, soon there's going to be another MMO like this and we'll all be playing that by then.
If i may ask: why? Aren't we all getting the game because of the MMO aspect? I think there's tons of other games out there if you're looking for a single player races, why would they add that mode if they could use those resources to make the online experience better?
I can see the appeal of it, but some elements like levelling and progression should be reworked if the game is going to be single player. Just as GTA has single player and online play. However, the most pressing concern is that offline mode would make the game easier to pirate, and most devs want to circumvent that by making it online only. Personally I see the odds of an offline mode as rather slim.
A racing game is more fun to play with others if you have a stable internet connection. I don;t have one right now.
I did not know this. Now it's becoming more clear to me why some of my games require a connection even though they seem to be supposedly okay to play offline. I guess if it's a necessary evil then it's okay but it's kind of a pain sometimes to be honest.
Of course. I wonder what the deal is with these developers that think people want to play online all day everyday. As much as I enjoy The Crew. I think a single player mode would be perfect. I think it could've been a driving Skyrim. I really hope they make that adition if there ever is a sequel. It thinks like an obvious thing so it boggles me that there wasn't a single player mode.
Making a game online only doesn't curb piracy, it delays it. Sim City, Call of Duty, there just simply isn't a way they wont find a way in. If they can reverse engineer Blade and Soul, an instanced always online MMORPG why couldn't they reverse engineer this? If they even have to. Pirating certainly wouldn't be worth it anyway, the online aspect of the game is what makes it so epic.
You don't have to play with any other players in the Crew, every involvement with other players is optional. so essentially it is an single player game. Offline game? not so much but being on a PC i can't say its something that really bothers me, I guess it also helps to keep a leaderboard going.
If it were a single player game, I would make use of that expansive map to travel from coast to coast. I hear from the beta testers that the scenery is lovely. As it is, I might do that anyway. Only I expect to get run off the road a few times on the way.
It should have a offline mode in case you wanted to play alone or had problems connecting, the last thing i want is to buy a game i cant play. But that aside thinking about how big this games map is. I think it would get boring or to predictable if it was just me and a bunch of AI racers. I need the challenge of a real person behind the wheel playing aggressive as we tare the city up. Hopefully there wont be many dirty racers out there.
You're right. It really is bothersome sometimes when the game requires internet connection especially for people like me who tend to game on portable devices. They really should include an offline mode.
