Would You Still Play If It Was Only Racing?

The thing is I feel as though if GTA was primarily just a racing game. Then it would kinda become what Burnout Paradise was or NFC Most Wanted. Would you still find it enjoyable if the game play was more centered around racing?

 

I don't think so. The racing is a fun little extra for me but it's not the reason I buy the games at all. The fact that there is so much to do in the game is what makes me really love it so taking everything but racing away would definitely make it lose its charm. It might be fun for a couple of hours but definitely not as fun as it is now.

 

No, I probably wouldn't still play it if it were only racing. It wouldn't be nearly as good. There are other games that are more enjoyable and pure racing games. The strength of grand theft auto is how much there is to do and explore. Having it focused on just racing would take a lot from it.

 

If they fully fleshed out GTA Races, then why not? The destruction you can cause against other players is great, and GTA Races brings all the fun to the game in some cases. I'd stick with GTA V in that case.

 

I don't think I'd buy GTA if it was all about racing. I do enjoy my racing games, but then again I can play other games for that. I play GTA because there's so much more to it then just driving, like killing people! lol

 

I don't think so, I don't think it is good enough in that sense to stand alone as JUST racing, as there are so many other games that focus on that and handle that aspect better. Most of the fun for GTA is that there's so much else to do.

 

If I didn't have any other racing games and the races in GTA Online were the only thing to play then I would definitely still play it. I love the racing in GTA Online and I spend a lot of time on it, but if I have other racers available I'd pick a more polished one.

 

I would still play if it was only racing, however, I feel like if it was only racing it wouldn't be nearly as interesting or popular - when people talk about GTAV, they don't talk about the racing aspect of it.

 

I don't think so because most of what I like about GTA has not much to do with cars or racing. However, if the developers decide on making their own version of a racing game, sort of like a spin off to GTA, then I would be very curious to check it out as I find them to be very good at what they do.

 

Rockstar already has a racing game called Midnight Club. If I wanted to play a Rockstar game where all you do is race, I would just play the Midnight Club games which already have similar cities to GTA games.

It would be stupid of them to turn GTA into a racing game, because the fans would say "Why did Rockstar turn GTA into Midnight Club?"

 

No, what makes GTA fun is the fact that there are so many different scenarios that you take part in. For the most part, regular racing games are just regular there is not a whole lot that you can do apart from racing, which becomes boring after a time.

 

Probably not. Driving is just a nice bonus in the game, not one of the main draws. GTA is big because of all the missions and crime you can do. Though I do admit I spend half the time running hookers over with my sports car.

 

Well, part of the fun of GTA being a free roam game is that it's not just about the missions. You can take some time to do what you want and play around. You don't have to completely devote your time to the missions. You can run over some people. You can make your own entertaining chaos and anarchy. Get into some fights, blow some cars up, kill some cops, and most of all, have fun with it.

 

Yeah I think that if they made some of the racing a main part of the game en that would be sick.

 

Definitely not, the main appeal to GTA for me and I think most other people is the ability to get out of cars and just cause mayhem on foot. Limiting it to a racing game just turns it into another Need for Speed game. Then you've got the storyline, how entertaining would a GTA story be if you couldn't get out of your car, it would be terrible. Luckily Rockstar are smart enough to not make a move this poor, they know their fan base well.

 

I don't know that I would still find it as enjoyable, I like it the way it is now, where I can do my missions, and then do a few races, that works out really well for me.

 

I'm sorry, but that doesn't make any sense. It wouldn't be Grand Theft Auto, the crime game we all know and love. You're pretty much asking for GTA to turn into Midnight Club, which is also a Rockstar game. So, that would mean that the only crime game out there that also has fun and mayhem involved would be Saint's Row? Count me out of that. GTA is an awesome game that should not be changed drastically like that. If you want Midnight Club back, just beg Rockstar for it, and if enough people do, they might finally make Midnight Club 4.

 

No, not at all really. Like you said OP, it would be too much like games that already exist and not what it is. I'm pretty sure the main thing people love about GTA is the ability to do just about anything, so reducing the game to just racing would ruin a beautiful game.

 

Honestly, without the ability to wreak havoc on the streets, I wouldn't be playing these games at all.

 

Yeah, I agree that if they decided to do that then it would probably do more harm then good. Though, I do think they could incorporate more racing aspects to the game. It doesn't have to be like you have to beat someone in a race.
