If you could pick one console to play racing games one which would it be? I personally have played on GameCube, PlayStation, PlayStation 2, Wii, Xbox,Sega, and Nintendo 64.I would have to say that my favorite system to race on would have to be the GameCube. I just love the games on there and the controller is not too complicated. I have heard from some people that like racing with the foot pedal and the steering wheel, does that really make the experience of the game better?
Though the Xbox has Forza, I still would pick the PS 3 over all of the consoles. I think that the PS 3 has a lot of great racing games like Gran Turismo and Wipeout. When it comes to graphics, I think that the PS 3 and the Xbox 360 are almost the same.
I'm going to have to pick the Playstation (all versions). I prefer Forza to Gran Turismo slightly. But that doesn't quite swing it for xbox because wipe out is soooo good. Even from the original playstation version. the floating physics and soundtrack are addictive.
I have only favorite racing games, so it depends on which console I play those games on. If I had to choose, however, I'd probably pick PS2 since that has two of my favorite versions of racing titles ever, namely Need For Speed: Most Wanted and Burnout: Dominator. I also enjoy playing racing games on a portable console like the PSP, since I could just turn it on anywhere and pick up where I left off in career mode or even just alleviate some boredom with a quick race or two.
I am going with Gamecube as well. Gamecube was a awesome system. I was mad when they made the Wii and it did not live up to expectations. The gamecube just had a different feel to its games than the other systems. You know what I mean.
Of all time? PS2. It literally has a library rich with games of absolutely any genre. If you were given the PS2's library to play for the rest of eternity you would never get bored.
Well said, and I have always noticed this about PS2's library as well. I think it is set apart from all other consoles this way because it had just the right level of graphics that it wasn't too "raw" and not quite as polished at the same time. Also, great point about the diversity of the library. Everyone has different games they loved in that console which is very different when compared to nowadays when the biggest titles are pretty much the ones that get common consensus. I really wish that the same level of experimentation could happen again. Back then all types of games were available from a fun and quirky game like Leisure Suit Larry to fighting hiphop stars like Def Jam.
PS2 has the greatest collection of games in my opinion. The collection of racing games on the PS2 is insane. That is why PS2 will always have the clear advantage for me.
I personally have only played on playsation. My opinion on the matter may be biased, but I believe the PS3 to be the best gaming console. Graphics wise, the PS3 and Xbox are pretty much the same. Gameplay and handling, I have to say they're pretty much the same as well.
@dannyboy I agree. The amount of innovations they were able to introduce with the PS2 was astounding, not only in racing games but in all other genres, in my opinion. For example, Def Jam, was a fighting game like no other, not just because of the novelty of getting to use rappers to fight against each other, but the game mechanics was just very good overall.
I think that the best console for me is the PS3 console, because I always played a lot of games on Playstation and got really used to it. I only played games on Xbox 360 of any other consoles and I don't really see a lot of differences, but I still prefer Playstation, because I'm more used to it.
I am really torn between Xbox One and PS4, bu on the second thought, I think I like PS4 better than Xbox One.
I would have to choose my PlayStation 3 over all the others when it comes down to any type of game, especially racing. Some of the older games like Need for Speed Most Wanted, have been redone and improved and play awesomely on the PlayStation 3 console. Plus there is such a huge genre of racing games available to be played on this system rather than most of the other consoles.
Wow I honestly didn't even know Most Wanted was on PS3 as well. I was a big fan of it on ps2 so I'll definitely be checking this out. Thanks for mentioning it, now I have another game to look forward to.
I've only owned the play station series, but I generally liked the Xbox 360 controllers for their comfort.
After much careful consideration I recently purchased a wiiU. And I'm very happy with my new console. The best couch co-op games to be found anywhere, and fun/seriously underrated party games are what swung it for me. Honestly, I've had more fun playing wii party U than I have GTA V and tlou. And if I want to play some single player games by myself there's a good selection there too, many of which are exclusives.
I think this year I will have to go with the PS4, because it is much better than the Xbox one. The PS4 has a better GPU, the same RAM but faster DDR5, looks cool and has a lot more better exclusive games.
Racing Wheels? .. Racing Wheels? .. Racing Wheels? .. OH YES.. Which One? Which One? I am a retired Master Craftsman of 53 yrs. The Quality and Efficiency of Tools are critical to performing at your highest and best.. Service and speedy return of equipment is more than critical. The best of tools at times needs service, important is the ability of that representative to be all of this so a consumer feels satisfied in their purchase and refers others. OK OK I have bought and tested Logitec G-25 & G-27 and Trustmasters Ferrari and Fanatec GT2.. I am addicted to speed racing in games and online.. so I own most race car simulator pc software and PS3 games GT6 to NFS Most Wanted etc. After testing/buying all three competing wheels in the price range of $200-300 I discovered that the Fanatec GT2 Wheel is far superior in a number of areas .. for just what I mean there are 5 set ups for your choice to fine tune your GT2 race wheel for that particular race/course/game platform .. Each set up has several adjustments on how the wheel responds .. ALL of this can be done on the “fly”(pause game and change setting orwhile the action is hot and running) .. Now to be fair I did enjoy Logitec's wheels both performed well as Thrustmaster Ferrari placed a close second, yet all lacked something .. What that was?? ” IS'' Comparability across all platforms and games”. Again to be fair even Fantec is not perfect in all games but most assured that the others I tested did not come close to Fanatec GT2 .. I do know Thrustmasters has a high end Race Wheel approx. $1,000+ .. now if I choose to get into the high end tools for digital race driving again Fanatec has a more comprehensive package for less $$$ .. One last word .. the Fanatec service tech was exceptional and communicated all my questions and concerns plus helped with servicing the individual that introduced me to the Fanatec Race Wheels … The craftsmanship of the GT2 is second to none and service first rate with a comparable price .. my trade slogan “Quality Is Not Expensive .. It Is Priceless” Carl “Bud” Marano
