I'm lookin for one. But there are two things of which at least one always pops up every time I try a new racing game these days:

    1. Rubberband A.I.
    2. Not being able to use the same car in almost every race.

For me, what keeps me from enjoying building up a car just the way I like it is that my opponents can always catch up to me by magically becoming faster every time I'm ahead of them. It's either that, or I can't actually get used to driving the car of my choice because I'm forced to race in several different types of cars just to get through a tournament or the storyline (depending on type of game). I'm not much concerned with whether the game is "arcade" or "simulator", so long as I can actually get the hang of driving a vehicle without having to switch to an entirely different one every other race!tai nhac chuong

Oh, and I'd like for it to be an open world racer but am not interested in GTA or the like. Is there any hope for me? Do any of you know a game that might satisfy? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

    I'd recommend Forza 6.

While you cannot use the same car for every racing series, you can use the same car to race against the times of different players in what is called Rivals mode which can be pretty addictive if your into the whole trying to beat your best thing.

The AI has been improved a lot, it's some of the best AI I've seen that actually makes you fight for position and makes mistakes. For instance it will try to close the door on you if you get into an overtaking position, and I've had instances where I've been pursuing the car ahead and they made a mistake and went wide off the circuit.

    Give it a try!

Well.. The Crew is open world so I'd say you'll have a lot of fun playing it. Forza 6 is also solid, as Susime already suggested - either one of those is fine.

I dislike having to change cars too much as well and it seems like a lot of modern games are pushing that, possibly to sell more and more cars. I had a much more enjoyable time with some of the older games that allowed me to really get comfortable with each car as I upgraded.

I can see where they are coming from though and that's to get you to explore the wide array of cars on offer.

Forza 6 has 450 cars for example and each section of their "career mode" has 3 different racing series on offer in which you can race using 6 different class of car. You could race the 3 series' using just one type of car until you move on up to the next section of the career.

Yeah I guess it comes form a mixture of everything. Players want more cars, and developers want to sell more of them, so it's just practical to include as many as possible.

My taste in the racing genre differs a little from people. I think that the Burnout series is one of the best racing games I've every played. I still remember playing Burnout Paradise and losing my mind.

I think there is a mixture of love and trying to make money going hand-in-hand in the Forza series because each one of the cars in the game has been made beautifully and with care. They really look great.

I agree. I think games like this are made for car fanatics so they have to put more effort into the cars and they don't need to care as much about massive innovations in game mechanics.

I agree. There really is a passion for cars in the makers of this game as it is evident that they are similar to their fans in that way.

The developers are car guys so it makes sense as to why they recreate every car so beautifully.

Forzavista is one of the best additions to the series as it lets you explore every car fully.

You can try an amazing game named 'Project CARS'. This game is one of the most amazing game that I ever played in my entire life. I would highly recommend this game to you. I guarantee that you will be impressed by it.

Yea Project cars is amazing to play and I like playing that game as well. The developers of the game really did a great job with the game!

You can't go wrong with Gran Turismo. The rubberbanding isn't too bad in the game and you can use the same car for a whole series of races. The driving physics are extremely real, so that might get time to used to.

You could try Test Drive Unlimited. It's an arcade racer got but its got everything else you seek. It's an open world racer. Though it's not the best racing game it's great iif all you want to do is do some exploring in Oahu.

I was also going to say if the OP as highlighted those two things in particular, then Gran Turismo probably is the best that they can do.

There aren't many racing games where you can actually use the same car all the way through though, well...if there is, I can't think of any?

The crew is great and drive club is really nice; however, both games seem to be lacking on updates. I've never tried Forza 6 but I hear great things. If you are looking for more realism may I suggest project cars. Project cars is a bit harder to handle and get used too but it's real fun once you get the hang of it.

I would suggest you CRT for PlayStation if you happen to have an emulator and like Crash Bandicoot. It's an incredibly fun game and I have spent countless hours in it (and still do). The controls are smooth and the gameplay is fluid.

I'd guess there are definitely racing games that exist where you can use one car for the entire game, but they are extremely rare. The vast majority of racing games play like typical video games where you can upgrade your vehicles. I'd guess some older old school games where there were only a few levels or missions had only one vehicle for the entire game.

Those games you mention, and of course if your playing the F1 series of games also. While your car will obviously change from season to season, the design and specifications will be roughly the same all the way through.
