I always loved the Playstation, but the Xbox and Wii were also really awesome too! I can't really decide on just one to be honest. They're all really amazing to me! I own a PS2 myself, but never owned the Xbox or Wii, but I've played them before.

I've tried both and I agree that they have their own advantages and disadvantages. I like the size of xbox controllers but the only thing I really dislike is that they run out of batteries and you'd have to get a separate battery pack if you want it to be rechargeable whereas the PS3 is already set and works very well as it is.

Out of the console controllers I've tried, PS2 and Xbox 360 seem to work the best for me. They both work pretty smoothly. Since the Game Cube controller is so unorthodox, it's a little uncomfortable to use. The original Xbox had a slightly stiff controller, and the prototype controller it originally had was a bit oversized. The Wii is hard to factor in because it is motion sensored, so I won't count that. The PS1 had no analog sticks, and I prefer the analog sticks.

When it comes to ergonomics, I am really digging the Playstation 4 controller. The Playstation 3 one was just really bulky and unsatisfying to use. It was just plain annoying. Now, the best controller, the most acclaimed one, was the Xbox 360 controller which is pretty good to be honest. In the retro side of things, the NES controller is just so simple and clean, it looks so inviting. I don't know, I've always been a sucker for simple and clean cut designs and the NES controller did a really good job on that, even though maybe the feel of it could've been improved.

I'm loving the 360 controller still. Its only problem is being bad for fighters due to the crappy dpad, which is what I use the PS3 controller for. Don't like the PS3 controller that much, though, the PS4's controller is much better than the PS3's.

I hate the dpad on the ms controller as well and although I don't like ps direction buttons neither, I prefer it. I heard even the special fighting game controllers aren't as good but I suppose that is the best option.

Out of the Xbox controllers, I think that the Xbox 360 has the best controller. It fits well in your hands, and the buttons are pretty responsive. Out of the Playstation controllers, I think that the PS2 Dualshock is the best. I, overall, think that Nintendo makes kind of awkward controllers for their consoles. I do admire their creativity, though.

Now, for retro controllers, I think that the SEGA Genesis had a really good controller. I didn't like the feel of the SNES controller. As much as I like the Dreamcast, it had a clunky controller. I never played the SEGA Saturn, so Ii don't know. The Nintendo 64 was an extremely awkward controller. I know what Nintendo was trying to do, but it just felt weird. I think SEGA Genesis did it right, in terms of retro controllers.

I still dream about the Sega controllers making a comeback, specifically the second type which had six buttons. I never had problems moving my thumbs fast and I think I'm even hindered by having to use my pointers in a major way with the modern controllers, especially when it comes to fighting games because having to switch between that many fingers just ends up confusing me when it comes to combos.

I just generally dream of SEGA consoles making a comeback. I think that Shenmue 3 getting Kickstarted rekindled SEGA's fans' desires for a Dreamcast 2 or just a new console. A home for Shenmue 3, so to speak. I have to admit, I want it too. SEGA consoles (that aren't the Genesis) are underrated. The Dreamcast was great before it met its end to the PS2.

Good point as I would love to see that too, although I can't imagine them making that much of a difference anymore now that consoles have become a lot more homogenous. I had a Saturn when all my friends had Ps1 and the biggest difference in it that I saw was the save feature as my saves on a battery were very faulty whereas ps memory cards were stable as hell.

Well on the Dreamcast, they had VMUs. Those worked pretty well as memory cards. I never played the SEGA Saturn, but it looks really good for its time, and I've seen enough game footage to know that there are good games for the Saturn. I still think that SEGA could come out with a console again. A lot of people want it to happen, though that might cause a rift between SEGA and Nintendo again.

I'd love to see this happen too. I think if they just came back and rebooted all their older games like Nintendo has been doing for decades they would still be successful and it's how I see them differentiating themselves from the current market which has become a bit flat in my opinion.

Well, one consistent thing with SEGA is that you never know what to expect. They could do good or bad, but when they do good, it's normally really good. If SEGA came back to the console market, it could rekindle the fire that Nintendo had. People say that Nintendo is kind of dying out, due to very poor sales on the Wii U. I still disagree that Nintendo's on its way out, but that's besides the point. Nintendo might want to get more creative if they had direct competition. Now, I want a Dreamcast 2 to happen even more.

Great point. I think Sega would round out the market very well in this regard. They should, definitely go back and compete with Nintendo instead of MS and Sony and I think they could be successful again in this area. I wish this could be true but from what I've heard it isn't likely.

Well, you never know what will happen, but I do see how it's unlikely. It is a nice hypothetical, though. I do hope some new developments from SEGA and Nintendo come up. Otherwise, the only true competing companies in the gaming industry will be Microsoft and Sony. No other company will be a threat, at least at this point.

Very true. I think Nintendo has stagnated a little over the years due to lack of competition so this actually really sounds like a good idea to me. Also I want a lot of their old games to make a comeback like streets of rage. I heard Sega is holding that title hostage.

I do hope that either SEGA or Nintendo step up their game in the upcoming years, either in games or in consoles/handhelds. They do still have strong fanbases , but if they don't try harder to keep everyone around for things other than nostalgia, those companies might die out. That actually does make me sad to think about, but once again, part of it is SEGA and Nintendo's efforts.

I honestly think Nintendo will stay this way until they gain a competitor again. As of now they really don't have much of a reason to do more than the status quo because all they need to do is stay relevant, whereas if they have a competitor they will be a lot more on their toes.

As I said before, though, Microsoft and Sony are technically competition for Nintendo as well. Since Nintendo specializes in family friendly games, however, hardcore gamers are less likely to play. Also, the graphics capabilities of Nintendo consoles aren't as good as Xbox or Playstation. I think they're riding along based on nostalgia.
