You would think that playing with your closes friends would be the most enjoyable thing to do. Yet, all I seem to get is complete rage as we all try and ruin each other. I mean targeting each other and not even trying to win. Does Mario cause you to rage too?

Yes it does make me rage too. I think it's part of what makes the game so fun and what has made it be popular for this long though. It's just really fun when you can control the game well enough that you can really mess up someone else's plans. What makes the game most fun for me even when it makes me rage is when everyone playing is equally good at the game.

It is definitely what makes the game more fun to play. I would say that is the case with a lot or most multiplayer games, especially if you get people all in a room. I know that I have gotten my rise out of a couple of people, and gotten a good laugh myself at the same time. I also know I have been the target though, too, so it works both ways.

The things I disliked most about Mario Kart 8 were the things I've always disliked about every entry in the series. You get punished for racing well. One of the easiest ways to lose is to be the best racer! Blue shells are nonsense items.

None of this is focused towards other players, though. I think most of the rage out there is a product of poor social skills, exacerbated by the perceived anonymity of online gaming. When people don't have to stand by their words they tend to say awful things. This isn't unique to Mario Kart, it's just something you have to adjust to in any gaming lobby.

It's not Mario Kart unless someone feels victimized after the race.
