Well I have a question to ask, and yes it is the same question as the one in the title, but maybe I will elaborate a bit. I was having a similar discussion with a friend a while ago and then I remembered it all of the sudden while on the forum so I thought that I would just open it up.

Is considering the game Paperboy - you know, the really old one - a dirt racing game too much of a stretch?

Of course I know the answer is probably yes, and this is more just a fun question to ask because I really think that there is a lack of dirt racing games out there, and when I was thinking of some I had to throw that one in there. It is also one of my favorites, and an all time classic.

I vote that it counts, just for my own sake.

That's actually a pretty interesting question, as I do remember that near the ending of the street, you have to race on a dirt area.

Tbh I almost always never made it through to the very end, and this really was 10+ years ago so my memory is hazy. In terms of whether its considering a dirt racing game... I mean there is a time where you race on the dirt, so maybe?

But man, that game was fun...

If I remember the game right, I don't think it's a dirt racing game though. It's just a game where you aim paper at mailboxes and doorsteps, and you evade obstacles along the way. It's not like you have an opponent or something, that would justify a "race", since your opponent is just the accuracy, and the obstacles along the way. Again, I might be wrong, and I may be comparing a different game altogether, but that would be my answer. A resounding NO.

Is that the game in which you aim paper to locations? If yes I don't really think it's considered a dirt racing game at all, but I'm probably not talking about the game you're implying.

Most of the people don't understand the difference of a general game and a dirt racing game. I don't think Paperboy is a dirt racing game. It's a game in a completely different genre and we can name it as a 'real dirt racing game'.

    I wouldn't call it a racing game.

Fun though it was the one thing that made the game somewhat annoying were the controls. Anyway, most games back then were almost as bad [when it came to controls].

Well @FuZyOn that actually is the game, and it looks like the resounding answer is no, which is what I suspected. The question was almost more of a joke, but I think that there are a lot of games that are kind of on the brink of being considered a racing game so some people might have different thresholds.

I can see that idea working in some sense, I mean I've seen many iterations of Duck Hunt that were awesome. I don't think it would take much work other then tweaking the handling of the bike and turf he rides on. I know they still make nes games by request so make it happen if you'd like to see it :D

I don't think it's technically a racing game and since it's not in dirt I don't think it can be considered a dirt racing game either. At most maybe it's just another genre with a bit of racing game elements in it.
