That's a really high number of copies sold, wow. I always new the franchise was popular, but for some reason I had never expected it sell numbers like that. Congrats to Sony and Polyphony.
The sales prove that GT most certainly is one of the best racing games ever made. I'm sure that with the other stuff they are throwing in [real racing licenses] to entice more people to play Gran Turismo games, there'll be selling more copies of the game than they did in the past.
