When it comes to racing games, it seems that people prefer to race cars rather than bikes, even though game like Ride and Ride 2 have been relatively successful. Does that though mean that there is future for the Ride franchise, or do we think that Ride 2 will be where it ends?

Personally I like the fact that we have a choice, and even though I do prefer racing cars, I do enjoy both the Ride games and I think that it could have a future if it keeps progressing like it has. Failing that, do we think that there would be a game developer out there that may put the two together? I'd like to see say a game like Gran Turismo in the future to have a mix of both, and maybe even be able to race bikes and cars against each other.

Would a game like that be successful, or are bike and car racing games two different beasts that shouldn't be mixed?

For me i have always preferred race cars rather than bikes, which doesn't mean i did not enjoy the latter. But as you stated race car games are far more popular since the sports itself is known to more people, which you can clearly see when comparing F1 and MotoGP.

Like you say, Formula 1 is more popular around the world, but there is still a large amount of people that follow MotoGP as well, and I do think that they warrant a game made for them as well, and Ride does that to some extent.

I'd also think that more MotoGP fans would actually go out and buy a game based on that sport than what Formula 1 fans would. There are hundreds of car racing games available, but not many bike racing games so while it is a niche market, there are still a lot of fans of motorcycling that will justify a game developer to carry on making them I would have thought.

I agree with you that MotoGP has a a huge fan base, but you have to look at it from a gaming franchise point of you, even though a MotoGP could be successful upon release, it might not make that much of a profit compared to a car racing game.

I'm not sure where they will go from here but it's highly likely that another one will be released. Game developers never stop until they release something everyone hates *cough* cal.l of *cough*. I hope they announce it as soon as possible.

Well you are right of course, and car racing games will always be more popular than bike racing games but the car racing genre is that saturated now, game developers are starting to look at other forms of racing, so bike racing games are the obvious alternative.

The developers of RIDE have been clever enough to see that, and in some respects have got a head start on the opposition. In the future there will be more and more bike racing games coming out, but RIDE will always be seen as the game to beat.

I agree with you that the car racing game industry is totally saturated but I don't see that bikes will ever take over cars in that genre. I also prefer racing cars to racing bikes, but I do like the Ride games and I like that we have these kind of options on the markets.

I think that in relation to saturation, the problem reaches the car games and also the bike (but the car market is still more saturated). But I think there's still there's a lot of space for both, especially for games involving bikes. What needs to be on the two sides is creativity and innovation.

I think there is no relation between being successful of Ride 2 with the launch of Ride 3. If they have to launch the Ride 3 then it would be a big positive change in their business. I have not played Ride 2 yet but I will give it a try today.

You have a good point of view here. I think that this "obligatory relationship / connection" that many people usually see between the old/new versions shouldn't exist.

Yeah but they wouldn't find it financially beneficial launching a third in the series when the previous version did not do well at all so I think it's all always connected somehow form a marketing standpoint.

Well, for us fans it's never about the money but about the enjoyment of the game. That's where developers start to go wrong when they consider the maths before how people feel about the ride game.

I believe that we'll have more Ride games in the future. The ride franchise has a huge fanbase, and any gaming company would know that a huge fanbase is something to take advantage of. I personally love racing bikes more than racing cars, and I think that even though car racing games have a bigger fanbase, it still depends on the niche as you can't exactly compare car-racing games to bike-racing games.

I think you're right. I know that car racing games are worlds different than racing bikes and that is an important distinction to a lot of gamers out there. I look forward to seeing more of the Ride games when they do come out.

Well, guys in general are more drawn to cars than bikes in real life, so I think that carries over to their preference in video games too. I also don't mind playing a bike racing game, but car racing games have much more appeal for some reason.

I like to play racing games having to use bikes, but they never get better than cars because the cars offer more thrills.

Everything with a car becomes more exciting. :D

I'm quite the same, even though i enjoy racing with bikes, over time it gets boring and there isn't much variety.

I think this is one of the boring aspects in bike racing games: they are not usually very varied and dynamic. I have the impression that everything looks more the same. :(

The only noticeable difference is the power of each motorcycle which is not to enough to hold my attention.

I definitely think so. Game programmers don't backslide but upgrade in their code in this franchise. And I can't wait to see Ride3 out to burn-roads-out! Ride2 success and popularity warrants Ride3 release since I feel the pressure they're on, online, to set the time of release
