    Any favourite titles?

I am a kid of the 90s so I like Gran Turismo, Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart 64 and such titles.

    Super Mario kart of course!

I still play this with my little brother and it's always a good laugh.

I've got to second Carmageddon. It's just pure fun to play it with a friend.

This got me thinking and I remembered the Midnight Club series and DIRT by Codemasters!

Did anyone play ridge racer type 4? The theme music for that was just amazing. Also V-RALLY was very fun, some of the tracks in that were ridiculous.

I ma not much into the classic racing games to be honest. Hover, I have played a fair share of oldies. The first ever racing game I played was back in 2006. It was Need For Speed: Underground. I loved it so much that I started playing only racing game for a while before moving one to FPS games again.

I got Need For Speed: Underground in 2004. I really liked all the side games like drag and drifting. I used to play that drifitng mode for hours lol.

Never got to 600,000 though :p

    This cracked me up XD.

Also, does anyone remember a real old game for the PS1? You controlled toy cars as they raced around rooms in a house and its garden.

You don't have to strain your eyes in every classic racing game; it requires a different skill to most racing one. By manually arranging the tyre burning drift on the roads with your finger on the screen, it is a miniature racetrack but it is not less exciting with competition and varying situations on each level.

Crazy Taxi was great though I have to say that it actually was very, veryy repetitive.

I agree, it was indeed very repetitive, but the mini games were a welcome breath of fresh air. But yeah, it wasn't really enough to save the game as a whole, especially since that wasn't even the main game. I'm guessing it was that simple because it was originally designed for arcade gaming and not really for that much repeat gaming on consoles, but it was still fun for what it is, in my opinion.

A classic racing game I have is Demolition Racer for the PS1. I bought this game years ago and I still play it today. I love this game and I would always challenge my sister to a game and we would have a lot of fun playing against each other. This is one of my favorite games to play.

Need for Speed High Stakes was awesome back in the late 90s. Definitely one of the better racing games in the industry, along with Gran Turismo 2.

I will admit that the need for speed games were good and they.were fun to play, but I still went back to DR. I liked wrecking the cars and trying to win at the same time. I had a lot of crazy moves I would do just to win.

Gran Turismo 1 and 2 first come to my mind. It was a very ambitious title during the day yet it was able to back it up with great driving mechanics and deep customization options. Crash Team Racing is also one of my favorite Kart games. It was so much fun especially when played with friends. And of course, there's R4: Ridge Racer Type 4, an arcade racing game that pushed the PS 1 to its graphical limits.
