I personally love SEGA's Outrun series. I love the racing and the causal arcade driving is fun as well. When not racing, your character is driving with a girl and if you drive very badly, she gets annoyed by you. My favorite Outrun is Outrun 2. So, do any of you know the Outrun series? Yu Suzuki, the creator of Shenmue and Virtua Fighter, made the game.
Outrun is one of my earliest gaming memories in the arcade. The Deluxe sit-down cabinet of the game is totally worth the 25 or 50 cents if you can find an arcade anywhere near you. The whole feel of that game is very great especially with the music. I always loved how you get to choose your track on the radio before the race. There is an Android game that is a complete throwback to the Outrun series. It's called Final Freeway 2R and there is a free version available as well as a paid version of the app. The newer Outrun games on the arcade and modern systems are also very fun, especially if you like drifting!
Ah, I see. I might check out that Android game. Sounds enjoyable, especially if it has that Outrun flavor to it. I haven't really played another racing game that was like Outrun.
Of course! Out Run was epic! The soundtrack was pretty awesome, and the game had an all-around cool vibe. Driving the Ferrari, hot chick on the passenger side, palm trees everywhere... I really like racing games better now, because they can be ultra-realistic. But this one was cool, even if it didn't felt like driving at all.
I don't know. That might be another reason. I don't feel like as much of an idiot behind the wheel as I sometimes do in other games. Yes, though, I totally get what you mean by it having a cool and chilled out vibe. Compared to other racing games, there's quite a bit of a laid back feeling to Outrun.
I got to play this once in the arcades and I think I got to play it on the home console versions as well but my memory is a bit hazy on it. I enjoyed it but I wouldn't consider it my favorite.
Exactly! You were really in no danger of spinning out of control for most of the time. But that was cool, because you was chillin with some beats, driving by the beach, in a very wide road, for the most awesome driving possible This...
Whenever I want some really nice eyecandy with some smooth gameplay I usually hook up my wheel and play the PC verison of Outrun - Coast2Coast. It looks so pretty even now!
I remember playing it when I was a kid. It was really fun back than. It's surprising to see how far we have come in terms of graphics and gameplay.
I used to play Outrun 2, and loved playing it because it was different from other games with its wide roads and a feel that you are in a cartoon. The best part was that you feel that you go very very fast, and there is less traffic. Just an easy fun game.
Yes, it definitely has some of that cartoon-y, SEGA flavor to it, but in a good way. Well, the amount of traffic depends on what mode you play and whether or not you can set the amount of traffic, but I get what you mean.
