Resident Evil? Silent Hill? Dead Rising? What do you think?

Silent Hill is definitely my favourite horror franchise, but I don't think I'd call it a zombie game. Dead Island is the best zombie game I've played.

Hmm I'll agree with Hemingway, Dead Island is probably the best zombie game.

Did someone play Left 4 Dead? Don't know if it is on consoles too but I really liked the atmosphere.

I've played it. It's pretty good.

    But a bit repetitive.

Yeah, I've only ever played it with my girlfriend on local co-op. I can't imagine it being much fun by myself.

That sounds like fun. I enjoyed it on my own but there was a lack of different enemy types. Also it was pretty much straight through, nothing really challenging besides killing the zombies. No puzzles, no special quests, not even special missions. No story.

Yeah, the lack of story was a let down for me

Well, my favorite game with zombies in it is Resident Evil 4, by far. But that isn't a game that's great mainly for its zombies; it's a combination of the environments, the sound, and the design. The best zombie-centric game for me would be Left for Dead, the original.

If it counts, Silent Hill was a really cool one for me. It had enough horror that when you played it alone back in the old days, "cheesy" was the last thing to pop into your mind.

But there are no zombies in it!

Resident Evil, for sure. When the crimsonheads turn up... jeez, that's some tense gaming right there.

Resident Evil... I loved that game. Never finished it, though.

:O shame on you! I wish the Gamecube version wasn't so expensive, I'd really like to play it again.

The best zombie games I have experienced was Left for Dead 2 and The Walking Dead. Left for Dead 2 was really fun, especially with friends. The usage of weapons and the mass amounts of zombies was incredible rewarding. The Walking Dead offered immensely serious campaign that left you depressed after the ending. Both zombie games were awesome, I recommend them to anyone.

Is there a big difference between Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2? Maybe some sort of story and more variety?

Well, State of Decay was released for Xbox 360 and is in Beta for PC on Steam. I've heard that it has really good gameplay mechanics and is a unique zombie game. Though, the game is only single player I believe, so unfortunately there's no chance for playing in co-op with friends, yet. Hopefully the Steam community convinces the developers to add in a co-op multiplayer option in the future!

In the future, however, I can't wait for Dying Light to come out. It's sort of like a crossover of Mirror's Edge and Dead Island. Check it out guys, if you haven't already seen the gameplay and trailer of it!
