I tried it, but I didn't like it. That much of a split screen just didn't give enough space for me to look around. It's kind of like 4 split-screen with CoD; it's only enjoyable if you have a big TV.
I only did it in the N64 days... Mario Kart 64, Star Fox 64, and Wave Race 64, all had a 4 player mode. I can't remember any other games that I use to play and had that feature. Is this not common for PS and XBox games?
I played Mario Kart with 4 player`split screen back in the days but due to my poor eye-sight I could never see what's going on. Now that TV's are bigger I'm always having a blast though, playing with others just makes games much more enjoyable
Back then TV's were smaller, and additional controllers were also hard to come by. The most that I've ever played was 2-player split screen, and it was already a bit disorienting. I can't really imagine being able to focus on playing 4 player-split screen! With all the new TVs getting bigger and bigger, it would certainly be nice to see a resurgence of split-screen gaming, but sadly it seems that people hardly meet up for social gaming anymore, we play online most of the time. Shame that much of the human interaction has been lost.
This is why I love my Wii. SSB, New Mario and other Mario games encourage me and my friends to sleep over and just goof off. I think, without the Wii, we'd get drunk and bored too fast.
Now, that I think about it, there are very few games that still do that anymore. I also think that both Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing games do it as well. Still, there are very few that still have 4-way split screens.
Ah, yes. Remember when people would go over to another's house to play video games? Still, I guess the benefits of online gaming help out anti-social people like me a bit. It was a neat feature for its time, though.
Last time I played a 4 player split screen racing game was a few years back and I found it quite fun. It's cool to race against three of your friends, so that if you are four, two of them don't have to wait for their turn. It is also a lot more fun to play with more people, more unpredictable things can happen when there are more people around. If a game that comes fresh out on the market would make this possible it would be great, but I don't think that we are currently expecting a game like this, which is a shame.
The only time I played a four screen was back in the N64 days. A time where friends would come over and actually play games with you. The four screen aspect made playing more fun for me. Mostly, because I was always cheating looking over at my friends screen.
Yes, I have, but quite a while ago actually. I can't specifically remember anything about the time I played 4 player split-screen, except that I played a 4 player split-screen race and that because of the low resolution TV's back then, it was extremely difficult to actually make out anything in particular .
Mario Kart is the only game I like four-player splitscreen for right now. The chaos in-game is just suits four people sitting next to each other screaming about getting hit by powerups and whatnot. However, I wouldn't play any other racing game with four-player splitscreen. I take my other racing games far too seriously for that.
I recently played 4-player-split screen and it's really funny when you're up against 3 of your friends which are in the same room. The human interaction give a plus to any game you play and make it more about competitions, you always try to be better than the one sitting next to you.
I think that the Sonic Riders series has 4-player split screen racing. At least, I know that the original Sonic Riders and Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity have it. I'm not sure about Sonic Free Riders because I haven't played it yet.
No i haven't played 4 player screen racing the max split screen racing i played was 2 screens. I think if you want to play at 4 screens at once you got to have a large screen to play on and you hardly see all details even at that point. So nowadays when there are so many games where you can play online i see no points at playing at more screens than two at once.
Yeah, we use to have all nighters with our friends all the time and play 4 player Mario Kart Wii. People would yell at me because i'd win every race while having a conversation with another person giving them eye contact.
Not with racing games, no. The only game I've ever played with a 4-screen slit was Goldeneye on the N64 and that wasn't a very good experience to be honest, it becomes really hard to see what's going on. I love playing with friends, but the 4-way split is just too much in my opinion.
i have played 4 player split screen on multiple occasions. its a pain in the ass to say the least, but for some reason its always the most fun!
I wish I had a chance to play 4 layer split screen matches and experience the awesomeness, but I am content with watching YouTube videos of those games as I don;t have any means of playing that.
I tried it once with my friends. I really liked it. It was exciting with alot going on and just added to the overall gaming experience.
I dislike split screen gaming as well. It would really help if they would just allow using different TV sets but I heard that it could prove costly.
