It should be noted that the physical design of the controller has changed since this thread was created. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/new...ith-Analog-Stick-Confirmed-Explained-by-Valve I'm glad to see they finally added analog sticks, since I doubt I'd get used to the weird trackpad.
Thanks for sharing! Yes, I think adding an analog stick makes it a little less weird, and I agree with them that it's probably best to ease their customers into using their trackpads. I'm really looking forward to seeing the reaction to this controller.
It definitely looks strange. I'm sure that, knowing Valve, they'd make sure that after time you can get used to it and that it's really comfortable, but from the images, it looks quite the opposite. I'm willing to try it out and see how it goes
Me too, it looks like they're trying to reinvent the wheel when the wheel we have now is doing just fine. “It’s a bold move Cotton, let’s see if it pays off." I'll reserve my judgement until I can get my hands on it.
Yeah, I think that's sort of the opinion of most people who saw the initial design, and I don't blame them. Controller design and technology has gone through so much that it seems counterproductive to scrap all of the findings in this way, but I guess they have plans for it.
Yeah, I won't judge until I hold it. I used to think the Wii U controller was weird and probably not comfortable but then I went to the store and held one in my hands..
Now that you mention it, I thought that was pretty weird too at first, especially since only one person would have the benefit of touch controls, but I think overall it was still a bit more traditional than what Steam is going to be coming out with.
