Need for Speed Rivals I doubt this game is going to be any good. What do you think?

When was the last time we got any good Need For Speed games? Don't remember? Yeah, its been such a long time now. It seems as though they have annualized this franchise now. It's not as good as it once used to be. I think, Need For Speed: Rivals is going to end up the same way. What do you think?

    Actually, I do remember.

The last amazing NFS was the one which came last year, Most Wanted. Before it was Hot Pursuit. Basically whichever NFS were made by Criterion were great. The ones in between sucked.

As a matter of fact I wasn't even planning on buying Most Wanted, but when I played its demo I just couldn't help myself. It is one of the best racing games in recent times.

And yeah, the franchise has been annualized since a while now.

As for Rivals. I can't really say. As with all NFS games the trailers are always amazing but until it's out you can't tell if it will be great or not.

The last time there was a high demand for Need For Speed games were years ago. There haven't been any crazy news about NFS sparking up on the internet. "Need For Speed: Rivals is going to end up the same way" might just be another typical game for the year but anything can happen. The release team figured a pretty date to release this game a month before big holidays. That would be a choice now for consumers to actually try out the game and its features.

Need For Speed games usually are the same thing year round. I like them, don't get me wrong, but I just want something new in my NFS games. When they did The Run, I was expecting a really cool new version of NFS, but I couldn't get into it. Most Wanted was pretty good, but it was much of the same.

Need For Speed is experiencing the same issue as Gran Turismo. Fans are complaining that there is a huge repetition and there needs to be new features. That's usually not a good sign.

I know what you're referring to but I don't know the title of that game. It's been so many years now. Hm?

" Need for Speed " title has been known to make excellent racing games and none of its game has ever been not satisfying to me, I like racing games too much and Need for Speed is the title that meets my expectations.

The problem is that the franchise became too big before it really knew what it was about, how to separate itself from similar games in the genre. Now it feels like a lot of what sells the games is their name alone.

I have to agree with you here. I still remember the time when EA used to be a good gaming company. Back in late 90s and early 00s, they delivered some amazing games. But now they are mostly about money. Need For Speed franchise used to be really good, but things have changed now. I am really looking forward to The Crew now.

I know what you mean about EA. The way they bring out DLC and practically make you pay for your game twice is evidence how little they care about the consumer. The Crew is what's caught my eye the most, too.

Well the last NFS game I had played was Hot Pursuit and it was awesome, so I don't know what the op is talking about. Admittedly, there isn't a lot of hype for this one but this is an NFS game, its bound to do well.

I kinda wish that they don't do well and EA learns their lesson. Just look what happened with Dead Space series and Medal of Honor series for that matter. They didn't do well and now the series is on hold.

Hot Pursuit came out in 2010. That wasn't too long ago. And it's been an annual franchise for more than a decade now. Rivals looks pretty good, but I doubt I'll buy it.

But here's the thing, EA actually are trying to improve. They did a lot of new and good things with Hot Pursuit and while I haven't played Most Wanted, I hear its decent as well. I have no clue why people are so worked up about Rivals. Possibly because of the shit name.

It doesn't have anything to do with names. The matter of the fact is this; EA has turned this franchise into an early franchise now which is not cool at all. This game is a cliche now. Well, sooner or later they will realize that they have gone the wrong they and will have to retrieve.

The game looks pretty decent to me in my view, just judging from the trailer and need for speed rarely disappoints.

I disagree. While the quality in the series hasn't exactly been consistent, EA has occasionally put out genuinely excellent games in the series, Hot Pursuit being a prime example and there are a lot of people out there who liked Most Wanted as well.

If this game offers nothing new, I'll agree with you but before that it's a bit unfair to judge EA so harshly.

I hate those evil corporate with passion. That's just it. I hate the fact that they turn most of their games to franchise and keep churning out games so frequently until it's dead. See what they did with Dead Space and Medal of Honor.

On the other hand, companies like 2K Games, Bethesda and Ubisoft are doing great job with producing amazing games. I am not a big fan of EA.
