Realistic dynamic weather effects seem to be the new arms race for this generation’s racing games. Forza Horizon 2 and Driveclub will both feature technically impressive systems.

Slightly Mad Studios’ Project CARS has been filling our screens with amazing screenshots for months, and it isn’t about to get beat out on any technical issue easily. The studio has released screens showing off its own dynamic weather system, and they look so real you’ll reach for an umbrella.

According to a Slightly Mad blog post, newly added features to the weather system include engine include “rain droplets, riplets and godrays,” and weather conditions will influence driving on the tracks.

“From day to night, from sunshine to torrential rain and everything in between, players will be able to prove themselves in a variety of conditions, requiring not only skillful driving but also the right pit strategy decisions to make it to the checkered flag,” the post says.

We’ve included a gallery of some of the most impressive pics below. You can check out more here.

Project CARS will be out for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, & PC in November, and Steam OS and Wii U in 2015.

It's looking so sick so far. I'm pretty hype for it.
