Yes! According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_games_with_Oculus_Rift_support), the following games are going to be supported: Race the Sun, Positron, Project CARS, RaceRoom Racing Experience, rFactor 3, Victory: The Age of Racing. Right now only iRacing.com and Racer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racer_(simulator)) are being available.
Oh man I imagine there's some racing games that work on the Rift. I want to play all of these games now, the Oculus Rift is going to be awesome and I can't wait to see if consoles will support it one day. Isn't Sony thinking about supporting it on the PS4? That'd be something. Only problem I have with the Oculus Rift is the $300 price tag, and that's a developer model.
Yeah dude, the Oculus Rift is going to be the future. I really thing many companies are going to try to make similar devices so their consoles can have that aspect of gaming as well. It's weird how it took us this long to create a device like this, we have come so far in gaming already, and we just now get a GOOD virtual reality device. About time. As for racing games, it's going to be cool with an Oculus Rift and a steering wheel controller.
The prices will drop soon enough, no doubt as we'll see more entry level options. But right now there's plenty willing to pay that price, so with high demand there's a high price. I'm waiting to see what the competition comes up with.
I know of only one game that is going to be supported and it's Project Cars. his game was supposed to come out in 2012 then t was delayed to 2013, and not the word is, it's going to come out on 2014. The game looks really amazing though. Here, have a look for yourself -
I would like to add a few more gameplay videos since I am not allowed to post more than 5 media items in a single post. Here you go - Here is some more -
I never was that excited for VR gaming until it was brought to my attention that you could play racing on it, and now I'm very much so excited for it. I think it will be a great experience, even if not for regular use and just to try it out a few times.
$300 is not that bad for the potential of what the system can do. I seen some developers models that where $7oo. I think 300 is fair.
I've played a couple games on the Oculus Rift, and one of them was a racing game. I don't recall the name, but it was an interesting experience to say the least. The Rift still has some shortcomings that won't be addressed anytime soon, though.
I saw this game mentioned in the Oculus Rift forum and was excited to see more about it. It looks fantastic. I wonder how people who get motion sick would fare playing racing games in VR.
That's awesome. I have RaceRoom Racing Experience. If the Occulus ever becomes a huge thing I might just try it. I'll look ridicolous though.
Agreed. I think the price is exceptionally fair for what it can do. When I first heard about it I was imagining it would sell for at least $500 and I wouldn't even be surprised if they sold it for close to a thousand.
I feel like any upgrades/newer models are going to make the price raise should they be significant upgrades.
I have trouble imagining what the upgrades could be since I've never tried one and I don't know what else you could upgrade for screens over your eyes but I'm sure they would think of something. My best guess would be that the more expensive future models would be a lot smaller and lighter since from what I know the current ones are pretty huge.
I'm happy to wait until development has progressed to the point where a cheap mass market model is feasible. Until then I'm happy playing normal games without the VR experience.
