They can be pretty expensive and I only mention them because I've heard that they can make one feel like they actually are racing in the real world. I've never used them but I think I might. If you've used them racing simulators do they actually make racing literally become a virtual reality? If you haven't, would you spend $600 to buy a racing simulator just so you could feel the thrill of being on the driving seat?
I haven't heard of racing simulators other than games on consoles and PC, but $600 seems very steep to me. My thinking is why would you pay that when you could pay at most half of that, sometimes even under $100, on a track day where you can drive super cars and race cars around for the day for real. No, I don't think I would spend that much on a racing simulator.
I don't think I would because I'm more interested in arcade type racers where you have more to do than just finishing first such as taking down enemies and boosting etc. I tend to get a bit bored with ultra realistic games, personally.
There are some hard core gamers who wouldn't mind forking $600 or more as long as there's a guarantee this would enhance their gaming experience. I don't think I'm one of them. Using a controller or keyboard is good enough for me. But wouldn't someone get addicted to it and want more and more of it? They'd end up spending a lot more than the $100.
Never heard of them, but I imagine I wouldn't enjoy them that much since they're expensive and I couldn't justify the price. I'll just wait for VR!
I think it comes down to an "all things in moderation thing" and if they get a sort of addiction to it they probably would want to try and get into racing for real a lot more.
The thrill of racing would be a pretty nifty experience, but not something I would justify spending $600 for. I'm content with using my car for the racing simulation!
That all depends on how you race. The consensus is that if you have put many hours into something then you must be pretty good, but there are some who put many hours into something and are still at an average level simply because they got stuck in their ways and didn't try to change anything.
Same here. I don't think I'd buy it even if I did have that much money to burn because it's just not something I'm that interested in. I'm more into arcade racers instead of realistic ones so even if I did have one at home my friends would probably get more use out of it and if it were just me it would just end up collecting dust.
The only reason I would buy one is if I would play a lot of racing games with my friends. I have a big gaming station in my basement and a 50' 4k TV, could be fun!
This is true. Although for me even if I had the rig I'd probably still just use it for an arcade type racer because I find those especially more fun as multiplayer, in which case I think the rig would actually be a bit wasted since it shows a lot more of its worth probably when playing realistic games.
IF you got the money why not right? I have something close to a driving simulator with a powerful Desktop displaying 4k resolution, sony virtual reality headsets and a driving wheel/stick combo controllers. All that is missing is the motion sensored seat, haha!
