What I mean by cops version is that you play as a cop initially. Or maybe a cop who goes rouge because he realizes the police are as corrupt as the gangs. Though, I think they would at first do a version centered around a female character than this. Would you be interested in something like this?

The cop one sounds pretty interesting but then you could live that life through vigilante missions in the older games which is a sadly missed feature in V.

I think this would be a great idea because it's a type of character that always appears in movies and we know they get a lot of their inspiration from parodying movie characters. It would also be a good change of pace since we're always Playing anti heroes in these games.

That would be quite interesting, I'm surprised there are no mods for that. Since cops are actually an important part of the game I'm intrigued by a character that is a cop but does some shady things around the back.

There probably is some sort of mod like this out there for IV or SA.

I just really miss the vigilante missions, they were pretty funny. Especially using the gunship.

I wish there would be one for V, since I didn't really like IV and SA is pretty outdated as it stands. Maybe in the future we'll see a mod that does something along those lines, hopefully.

A mod like that will only come on PC unfortunately.

They could really make something special though. I mean the GTA V world is huge and they could add a lot of different scenarios. Off the top of my head they could do a scenario where you're part of police agency that is tasked with preventing gun running and drug deliveries in the Alamo Sea.

I could see this being very cool if it's done well. Being a cop throughout the whole game would make it hard to go around killing people and causing havock.

You could have a sort of karma system like True Crime where you get good karma for doing good deeds such as stopping a crime, but get bad karma for killing people for no reason, sort of thing.

I'm sure they can make it fun if they eventually decided to do it. They always come up with great mechanics that make the game feel natural and right.

Considering Rockstars track record I have faith that if they did do this then they would pull it off greatly.

Oh, I definitely agree that Rockstar could make a great game with the main character being a cop. GTA has always been about you being a crazy rampaging criminal though. I would be completely on board for a spin-off, but not as a main game.

Funny thing, the GTA series initially started as a cop game in which you chased robbers and criminals. Rockstar saw that people enjoyed creating chaos however, and made it into the series we all love today. I definitely think they should try out a cop game. It would be fun to actually get to shoot criminals and others without getting the police on your tail every two minutes.

That is something I did not know. Thanks for the info :)

I really wish they would bring back the vigilante mode. Although not quite a cop, it gave you that "authority" which was pretty nice and in some ways it felt like you were making good on your mistakes in cleaning up the city haha.

Sounds like a great idea to inject some replayability into the series and increase player numbers.

It looks like this sort of mode has returned in the Online mode in a way in which you have to hunt down a player in a certain area while you're only armed with a flashlight and the hunted is armed with a shotgun.

Interesting mode to say the least.

Yeah this does sound like a spinoff that could work actually and it would rejuvenate the series even though obviously it doesn't need it that much. They could do it in the way that they made Chinatown wars maybe but hopefully much better since I didn't like that game all that much.

That could be interesting. They could incorporate some aspects from L.A. Noire, which was another game Rockstar worked on. Obviously, not everything from that game would work in the GTA verse, due to it taking place in the 1940's. Still, there could be things like "commandeering" a car so that it can be used "for an investigation", like in L.A. Noire. Maybe Rockstar could incorporate some things that are true to the GTA games, like having your cop committing some morally ambiguous acts, kind of like the corrupt cops in the GTA games already do. I'm for this idea of a GTA game where you're the cop, instead of the robber.
