If you needed a good reason to buy Gran Turismo Sport when it hits the markets, you now have one. But it takes more than just playing the game to get a real race license. http://www.rappler.com/technology/features/136514-gran-turismo-sport-e3-feature Anyone interested?
I'm not really sure if this is the best idea but the concept is probably more in-depth than just driving nicely and good, I would be pretty interested to get a racer license just by playing the game though. I think this is more like a marketing scheme to attract people.
It certainly is a marketing ploy but there is a possibility that one can become a racing driver via the GT academy . . . https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GT_Academy But you have to win some contests first.
The real challenge is that you need to win the contest first. Well, I don't think anyone and everyone would be able to win the challenge. Not all the members will able to win the contest and they will only get the real racer license. Winning the contest demands the real racing skill that most people don't have.
Gran Turismo is as real as it gets. It is the only racing game that is just like real life. It shows you what is like to be a professional. I agree, you will need a lot of hands on experience to be a racer.
This doesn't really come as much of a surprise, as some of the Gran Turismo games in the past have offered gamers who compete in certain tournaments the chance to go racing and compete in real life. The racing license you get may not be the full version, but at the same time it's an extra incentive to buy the game, not that I would have thought they needed to offer that many incentives anyway.
Console gaming is dying. While sure there are many hardcore console gamers to draw more in and retain the ones who may want to get into PC gaming, incentives have to be offered. To be honest I doubt that this is a strategy that will make more gamers buy GT [and PS consoles] in the long term. Eventually I think Sony will have to release some PS exclusives for PC.
Sony and the makers of Gran Turismo aren't offering these incentives to keep console gaming afloat, they're doing it as an incentive to get people to buy the game. In previous games in the Gran Turismo series they've done the same type of thing, and it's been a huge success attracting people from all over the world. Racing games attract the most competitive gamers I think, and offering this type of license only proves that.
And with GT Sport they want to take it a step further. Transform racing games or at least GT into a real E-Sport and as it comes with rewards I'm sure there'll be more people playing because online racing against others will actually feel like competing in a real sporting event.
That's something to look into but like you said this has to be a catch or something else involved. It is cool though that the game is that ultra-realistic.
They made some clarifications which sort of changed the whole thing, made it less exciting than how they made it sound initially. To get the racing license you have to go through the GT Academy . . . So getting that license may not be that easy.
Well, I would assume that getting any license shouldn't be easy. When I first heard about being able to get a racing license by playing GT. I was kinda floored and thought that it was the most ridiculous thing I ever heard of.
That's pretty cool. I think it's more just a statement on how realistic the game is and how the complexities mimic real life. It definitely makes me curious about the features even for somene not interested in getting a race license.
They shouldn't have attempted to use it as a selling point since GT gamers already could go from virtual racing to real life racing via the Nissan GT Academy.
This is pretty ridiculous, if true. You shouldn't be able to get a drivers license by just playing the game, no matter how realistic the game is.
