With GT Sport focusing more on online gaming, they had to make sure that everyone who plays online gets to enjoy himself/herself. To make that possible some measures had to be put in place.

Incentives — racing license is one.

To enforce good behavior players will be continuously scored on their performance and etiquette metrics which will factor in the game's matchmaking system.

That means if you are a jerk, you might find it nigh impossible to find someone you'll be playing against online.

That's a good system, I've seen it implemented in some MOBA games and toxicity went down quite a bit. I feel like the good players should also be rewarded with a special car or exhaust sound or something that would make them stand out.

The trolls especially in online racing games do need to be addressed and I'd be happy to see them even banned altogether from playing online. If you buy a game but then your races are continuously ruined by others, then surely the should be punished for their actions in my opinion.

That would be an incentive for me to buy the game, just knowing that I'm able to play without being affected by cheats and modders who ruin it.

That's really great news and I hope everything they have planned works out for the best. A toxic community is the fastest way to make me stop playing any game.

They had to do something to entice more people to play online. To be honest I don't know why they want more people to play GT Sport online. There has to be something they are after. But that doesn't matter. Deal with the trolls, let everyone enjoy playing the game online.

But gamers who want to play offline should have got an offline career mode.

Well they want more people to play online because they want to be seen as the most successful online racing community that there is. Once they've established that then they'll be able to offer more and more DLC and keep the Gram Turismo ball rolling into the future like it as been doing for a number of years now.

I wish they'd go a step further and port the game or the next GT to PC. It's not like people will stop buying PS consoles because one good racing game can be played on another platform.

It's a pretty good system I think and am glad to see something being implemented for GT at last. I've known of a few games that had a filter system that measured how well you drive and tried to match you in lobbies of people with a similar rating. Whether it actually worked as intended or not I'm not sure but the idea was sound. Let the jerks race with each other and the racers race with like minded folk is what I say!

That's something I'd really want to see. Jerk vs Jerk. I did see a youtube video but it was a race in GTA. Players should expect that sort of thing. With GT Sport however it will be entirely different. I'm sure after being quarantined a player who is out of there won't want to go back.

I should imagine he/she/it would just get lumped into lobbies with other people who try to ruin it for others. I don't know, maybe some of them getting a taste of what they do best might make them want to change their ways and become better racers?

If they are kicked out of there, I'd be surprised to see them in ANY other lobby to be honest as they'd surely just ban that player full stop?

I might be being a bit harsh, but if it was up to me you'd get 3 strikes and then you're out. warning, warning, warning and then do it again banned for life, not just on that game but any other future Gran Turismo releases as well.

Looking at it from a business point of view that would be a bit suicidal because (bear with me here) these idiots will probably never buy another GT title because they will see it as "oh, I can't wreck in that game much". I'm not saying I support the wreckers, but you hopefully get what I'm saying.

Having a ranking system looks a much more logical solution to it. Sure in the early days the game will be seen as a wreckers fest but after a few months when people have levelled appropriately I can see it becoming one of those games that's a joy to play online. And it goes back to the thing of letting the wreckers wreck, and the racers race.

I do understand that but I think that the majority of people that play Gran Turismo are real racing fans and they don't race online just to ruin other peoples games, it's just a minority, so won't impact all that much on sales anyway.

You can also look at it in another way, and say that because of those that spoil the online aspect of the game, people won't buy another Gran Turismo title because of that, so if they say the ones who spoil it are banned for life, then it might even increase the sales as more people who want to race properly will start buying the game again.
