Dang, that sucks ot hear Does anyone know when Gran Turismo Sport is supposed to be released? Can't wait to play it!
That's sad news indeed. I would have liked to try out the game before shelling out cash. I'll probably get it on a sale later on instead of on release day.
Damn, fans aren't going to be happy about this. I love gran turismo and I'd love to play the game first hand....
They promised that Gran Turismo Sport would come with PS VR. It's one of the games that will be selling their VR headset. If an open Beta was going to delay the release of the game then they had to scrap it. I doubt though that it will make GT fans unwilling to buy the game.
The game developers have said it's due for release around November 2016, but as with most games I'd be slightly sceptical about that date. Having said that, a thanksgiving/Christmas release would make sense. With that date being only 6 months away, we can assume that this game as been in development for a number of years already and it's highly anticipated by yourself as well as everyone else I'd imagine.
I think they can't afford to release the game any later than November. The game was supposed to launch with PS VR but apparently it won't, with the latter hitting the markets in October. Since Gran Turismo 7 comes out next year, I suppose the latest they can release the game is anytime before January.
I've never really been a fan of open betas so this comes as welcome news to me really. I feel like open betas and a few days of advance play sort of ruin the game before it's fully released. It's like finding out what you're getting for Christmas, it ruins a lot of the surprise an magic.
It's been a while since the last game, can't wait to see what they came up with in Gran Turismo Sport. I hope they can live up to their promises, they've been teasing us a lot.
But it does help because gamers can find any bugs before the game is released. If there's no open Beta there's a possibility that some bugs might go unnoticed and it can take a while to get the patch. That said, if gamers get free dlc to placate them just in case . . . that would be great.
With the increasing amount of patches and DLC these days, I think the game developers aren't relying on the open beta versions of the game as much as they used to when it comes to finding bugs. These days rightly or wrongly, they seem to release a game that's flawed, and fix it later through a patch every couple of months.
Well this is kinda disappointing, open betas are often a great way to garner interest and publicity for the game before release.
I think this game though won't have to gather too much interest though as the VR element people are already talking about and discussing, and we're still months away from the title being released yet. Not having a beta platform might sound like a crazy idea, but we'll only know when the game comes out if it's an idea that's worked or not.
Gran Turismo, I think, is one of those games that really push the boundaries of realism and graphics whenever they release a new game. I don't think racing games are games that needed to have beta testers though, because unlike MOBA or fighting games in general, there are no odd combinations, no interactions that the game developers may have missed, and definitely no frequent updates. So I really don't mind that they wouldn't offer beta testing for the game, that just means they are confident enough of their work that they do not need other people to see if they have missed something.
When the first ever Gran Turismo first came out, it prided itself on bring the real driving simulator and I think that's carried on through the series. Not only are the graphics some if the best in a racing game,,the actual cars handle as they would do in real life. That might not mean much to some, but to car enthusiasts its a big thing.
Probably whats best for business considering all the broken games being an issue lately. Gives gamers a chance to hold companies more accountable for their releases. I mean don't even get me started with Capcom.
Software developers should be held accountable for the bug ridden games that are getting released, but I don't think Beta is the answer. For me, all releasing a beta version does is ask us the consumers to do the testing and their work for them. Why can't they fix their own issues with a game instead of relying on us to tell them what's wrong and what they should go about fixing.
