What do you think of how GTA V implements cars and driving? How close is this to reality?

This can be about the handling of the cars, acceleration, engines, etc.

An example is the Adder, which people have called the 'Bugatti Veyron'. How similar do you think it is to the actual Bugatti Veyron (or representations of it in other, more racing-oriented games)?

Pretty crappy to be honest, GTA vice city had better driving.
Since I'm not a car guy I can't compare it to the real thing but I can say it feels crappy to drive in GTA V

Are you kidding? None of the cars perform or handle similarly to real world vehicles. Aside from fast acceleration and a high top speed, the Adder is nothing like the Veyron. If vehicles drove the way they do in real life, nobody would want to play a GTA game again.

Well, it is a video game so you can't expect it to be real. The game performs well and is fun to play. The fact that it isn't as "real" as it is suppose to be is probably the point.

Exactly. You'd probably need a wheel to play the game properly. Besides that, crashes would be more critical, like a little nick to the engine and the vehicle is toast.

Handling is pretty mediocre for most vehicles, but the designs are pretty good, especially for the muscle cars!

I haven't tried the real world versions of the cars but just from playing it in game I think they are a bit unrealistic. I don't mind it that much as I don't really require my games to be that realistic, but I do prefer the handling on some of their older versions more.

The handling and driving of the vehicles isn't that superb, but it is good enough for what it is. One thing I don't really like about GTA V, is that it tries to be jack of all trades, but it is a master at none. It's driving will never be as good as forza, its flying will never be anything like war thunder, and its shooting is nothing like ArmA. I think that they should try to focus on something, and make it really good, and then do average in the rest.

I don't drive enough to make comparisons. For example, I've never driven a Bugatti, so I have no way to compare it to the Adder. Bugattis are way out of my financial reach.

Lol you make a good point. I don't think I've driven even a small percentage of the amount of car varieties they have in the game but maybe if they put in some lower brands like Toyota I could do some comparisons.

You do understand that if they tried to make one aspect really good and keep the rest average, then you wouldn't have a third-person, open world game like (nearly) ALL THE OTHER Grand Theft Auto games, right? A game doesn't need to be incredible with every gameplay aspect in order to be an incredible game. Sum of its parts.

So far, all the GTA games have tried to simulate real driving, using different handling systems, but all of them have failed. The best example for this was GTA IV, with its horrible driving. Seriously, the cars felt like you were always driving on ice, not to mention how clunky they felt.
