It's a next gen game and still 30 FPS?

Are the devs serious? It's a next gen game on a really powerful platform and they are said to be working on it to ensure that it runs at 30 fps only. Why? You expect a lot more from a rig that has 8 GB of RAM and GUI power. Is that it? Are we going to get all the game at only 30 FPS in the future? What's your take on this?

I don't really care as long as the game runs smoothly. I'm more interested in the gameplay than the FPS.

I agree with zambo. If it runs smoothly and the game is fun - I won't mind. If it's laggy and boring, the 30FPS won't help it.

You don't understand how behind the hardware for PS4 and Xbox One are. The moment the hardware information was released to the public, the system was already outdated before we even started a conversation about it. And with what it looks like currently, it's comparable to a low-mid end gaming PC, but even with the proprietary console platform to give it a little bit of boost in performance, it still won't compare to the easily upgrade-able PC whose hardware will keep improving yearly. This is the downside of consoles. Even though they are claiming to be next gen with better graphics, they still can't run at 1080p on a playable constant FPS. Most likely they will be 720p to a maximum of 900p (1600x900), as expected.

No, it's official that it will run at least 1080p with 30 frames per second and efforts are being made to optimize the code so it can do better.

It's really sad that next-gen consoles aren't trying to make 60FPS the standard, even if it were at 720p instead of 1080p...

Well, everyone is interested in the gameplay. It is what should matter, but let's face it, playing any game in 60 FPS is way better experience than in 30 FPS. Have you ever played a game on PC? You'll get what I am saying.

"Way better" is an exaggeration to me. 30 FPS with no lag is completely OK with me, and many others.

I'm not a gaming nor a technological expert, but I've seen this explanation around online and it sounds the most sensible. It probably takes a lot of time to source out and seal all of the contracts and operations, and by the time they are in development technology probably has passed. I think the same was true from way back when, I don't think a Nintendo or Sega could have competed with a home computer at the time, but they did the job. As for new graphics with higher FPS, it would be nice, but from someone who still plays Genesis, I'd say I'm still amazed by current graphics regardless, and who knows they might figure it out better once the devs warm up to the console.

I know really?! To play a game that is with such high requirements and still get 30 fps is not good at all. Even if it runs smoothly as some members said in previous posts it won't be anywhere near the enjoyment of the standard 60 fps gameplay.

I don't really care how the graphics look. As long as the game play is great and is smooth. It doesn't matter to me what it looks like.

I'm a little disappointed that it doesn't run at 60 frames per second too. I really expected that of a driving game, they feel much more responsive when they run at the higher refresh rate, I would have gladly taken a dip in image quality for a more responsive driving experience from the game.

The again, the game wouldn't have looked quite as pretty as it will do when it launches, so we will have to see if the 1080p/30fps gamble is worth it.

In any case, I assume the physics engine will be refreshing at a speed double or triple that of the framerate.

Same here. I think if you're really nuts over graphic performance then you should just gMe on PC where you could control it a lot more. Console players in general, I think, don't mind too much.

From the moment the PS4 and the Xbox One were announced I wasn't really expecting them to have many games running on 60fps. The difference between current high-end PC's and the consoles is huge. that said, I don't think 30fps on a console is that much of a problem, as long as it's steady the game will look smooth enough for me.

Exactly. It's really not a huge deal. The average gamer barely notices a difference, nor do they care about such differences. Racing games run better at 60 fps, sure, but it's not the end of the world.

You're right. I think the average console gamer won't even notice. Although I'm still hoping that game developers step it up more for the current consoles just so the difference from the older version would be more visible.

Honestly with the current hardware I don't think they can step it up too much. There's simply not enough power in the consoles to completely blow away people. I believe the difference between the PS2 and Ps3 was much bigger than the difference between the 3 and 4 so we won't be able to see an improvement as much as people would like to. That said though, the current consoles will definitely have better looking games but it really takes time. Look at the PS3, that thing has shown us things that we thought weren't possible on that console in the past few years!

I suspected as much, but yeah, I agree. It will probably take a few more years to see a noticeable difference in graphics. I remember the first few games in PS3 only seemed somewhat impressive in terms of graphics upgrade but comparing these recent ones to the last few PS2 games makes the difference a lot more obvious.

Exactly. I think many people are forgetting that the PS4 is only in its early stages and that its full potential hasn't been used yet.

Anyway, what is the problem with 30 FPS anyway? It's not like it looks laggy to me or anything and I barely notice the difference with let's say 60fps. Aren't movies often played at something like 23 FPS? I don't really hear any complaints about that (at least not among the people I know). Am I just the odd one out here that doesn't notice a major difference?

I don't notice the difference that much either, and neither do my friends but it's probably because we are all mostly just casuals and thus it's why we only ever buy consoles. I'm guessing hardcore gamers just have a certain higher standard that they've grown accustomed to. I'm sure if I were able to game on a high end PC for a while I would notice significant differences in console versions when I get back to it.
