Good but...Not quite good enough.

When it comes to WRC6, I don't think there's any doubt that it's the best officially licensed rally game around and it's been the best game for a number of years, but when all said and done, in my opinion anyway, it still doesn't do enough to knock DiRT off the top spot.

For those of us that want an alternative to DiRT then it's certainly worth considering, but if you do have DiRT then there isn't really any unique reason to buy this game as well, and I think that Codemasters could and SHOULD have done a lot more to make the game better. I DO like the game and I would say it's a worthy 8/10 but for most of us racing game fans I think we was expecting a lot more.

I'd like to hear (read) other peoples views and see what they think. Am I being too harsh?

I'm sure I don't agree with you fully. Dirt and WRC6 are both great games that offer unique features for players. I do feel that you are a little too harsh, but I do get where you're coming from as a hardcore fan.

I agree, and I also noticed that it's not as good as Dirt Rally, but overall I think it's still a pretty decent game on it's own.

Well this is the problem with the majority of games, they are good enough to play but become very boring pretty fast.

I agree with you and I think Dirt Rally is better! Maybe there will be a change in the next versions, but not for now.

It's definitely hard if not impossible to change the whole perspective of the game to make it more appealing.

I agree that it's kinda hard to chance the whole perspective, but it's not impossible. The problem is that it would be a very risky move.

Well that's the problem, none are willing to innovate or break the habit.

I totally agree with you on this. Companies don't want to risk themselvez into new paths if they are to have some kind of loss. I think that with this, who ends up losing are us, the players.

As you stated, changing or breaking the habit is the best path when losing playerbase and money.

Well... It's a risky decision (there is no denying), but sometimes the best technique is the attack. When the attack is accurate, it can putting a end into a serious crisis.

Indeed it is, but as the reward is high the risk of failing is quite immense.

Sooner or later you have to take the risk... Someone always has to do it first. Winning or losing is a risk that we all have to try.

Yes, and the most logical thing (and that's what most end up doing) is to follow the example of who has succeeded. :D

And then we're back to the starting line of just following instead of leading :D

Currently there is a shortage of competition. So this seems to be the best you can get. I am sure in future there will be good enough graphics and more flexibility in games. Till then I am guessing this is what we can get. It takes a lot of money and testing for companies to make such games. So it's hard to do something out of the box.

The leader launches the trend and others just follow the same path. That's how things work, right? :p

I think that pretty much applies to almost every game. For example Doom and Quake did the same. And so does GTA and NFS did with the racing games. So it all depends on who lands the concept first. And others just follow suit after that. It's interesting to see how others just copy the main concept.
