When it comes to playing a racing game then the gear transmission is the most important thing. Some people are habitual to use the auto transmission while other people love to drive manual. I love to use the manual transmission as it gives me the authority to change the gear on my desired RPM level. Do you prefer to use auto transmission or the manual?
I would love to go with automatic transmission as we don't need to worry about perfect shifting time or RPM stuff. Automatic gear transmission does it all itself. The manual transmission is just a mess. I would never prefer to use the manual transmission.
I totally agree with you on that one, demitri. I also have a high preference for automatic transmission when it comes to racing games but I do see why some would choose the manual for a challenge.
Yes, I am really surprised that why people choose the manual as it is too difficult and it feels so stupid to keep an eye on shifting the gears.
In real life, automatic cars are easier to drive than the manual ones, so why are we gonna choose the harder one, right? Even in video games I would also choose the automatic one.
Whenever I'm just starting out on a racing game and I'm still trying to get the feel of the game, I would always go on automatic. Once I feel comfortable enough or when I feel that things are becoming too easy, I would switch over to manual as I feel it gives more accurate results as long as you know what you're doing.
I would love to play the game with manual transmission as I am free to shift the gear at any speed and RPM. Everyone has their own choice but I would always go with manual transmission.
I have never liked automatic transmission since i feel like it takes away the fun from driving, manual transmission allows you to control the car however you feel.
I think the most logical way is to choose the automatic transmission because the process becomes more practical and less worrisome. Why would anyone choose the manual process anyway?
True manual transmission give you more control over it. In case of automatic, some people don't like to work hard. And they just push stuff around. And then based on that they just choose the simple and lazy way to do things. I have found that manual transmission is lot better for control. Again depends on your personal preference though.
You point of view is very interesting, but I think the practicality speaks louder but it has nothing to do about having to not work hard.
We are in the game. What practicality has to do in that?. You adapt to game changes. And be it manual or the automatic, you adjust. Some of the time doing things manual makes sense. There is nothing practical about not using manual. It's just choice some of the time.
Looking from your point of view... The seasonality in each player's mood may be the deciding factor between manual or automatic transmission.
What can you say about yours? Can your mood influence you that way? Mine can't be changed so easily. It's very rare that this happens to me.
When I first start playing any racing game I always stick to the automatic transmission, at least until I get used to the overall feel of the game. Manual transmission is a lot better though and the better you get at the game I would recommend anybody to switch as soon as they feel comfortable to do so. When you look at the leader boards for most games online, there isn't many people that get anywhere near the top of the rankings using automatic transmission as using manual DOES cut down your lap times by a significant amount.
Unfortunately, in Ride 2, the manual gear shifting just isn't set up all that well. The automatic shifting, however, is better than real life. For me, this is one of the major flaws of the game. Half the challenge in racing is knowing how to operate the vehicle and executing those operations thoughtfully. In a system set up to mimic real-life conditions, this would allow you to attain total mastery of the track with practice. Sadly, Ride 2 either just hands you that master via automatic shifting, or hobbles you with the manual.
