So recently I picked up an old copy of Gran Turismo 5 for the PS3 just because I was in dire need of some good quality entertainment. Yet, the more and more I played it, I got more into wanting to be really good at it and specially the rally portions that they have. So the question would really be, how did you guys get relatively good at rally driving and how can I improve and what are your best tips? I'm also willing to pick up a more rally driven game than GT5 but for now it's what I have. Any thoughts?

There's but one way to get good at anything — lots of practice.

Start slow and steady to get a feel of the handling and once you do next step would be getting to know the routes.

Practice some more and before you know it, you'll be winning some races.

As long as you have racing basics down then getting better at rally races is just a matter of getting used to the tracks. It can be quite difficult to learn the proper way to drive on a dirt track if you're used to asphalt, but keep practicing and you'll get better at it.

The only thing you can really do is keep practising and learn the tracks. I think everyone struggles with rallying at the beginning but once you get the feel of it you'll improve quickly.

Lots of playing hours and understanding the physics in driving on dirt. Every game is going to be different, but learning the physics is going to be vital. Memorization of the track helps also.

It takes a while to understand the physics of the game and how to adjust your speed, then after that it's all hours of practice and learning portions of the track so you're more comfortable with it.

That's really a good suggestion. Practise makes a man perfect.

Yes, that's an important point. Memorizing the track really helps. I have memorizing the entire circuit of need for speed games and it helped me to complete 100 percent of the game.

The phrase "practice makes perfect" pretty much sums up your question. Sure, there may be shortcuts and stuff in lots of games, but if you really want to get good at it, I suggest you just play it. Obsess on it until you finally get good enough to actually win games. Or, you know, if you're a weak gamer, you can always tone down the difficulty of the races, that way you'll always be on the lead and nobody would be able to catch up to you.

You must play the game daily and as other said, memorize the tracks. If you play the game regularly, you would memorize the tracks without any effort at all. Just make sure to practise the game everyday. By this tactic, you can become a professional racer.

It is al about practice. As long as you play the more you get expert. I use to play a game for 4 hours every day in the start. It feels like i will never be able to be expert in this game but it is never like that. It takes some time and you will keep going with it.

Practice leads to perfection (or at least the best understanding of the game and how to act in each specific situation). It's basically this, simple... Because I think there's no hidden secrets. :)

Whenever you condition yourself (through doing something over and over) you eventually become an expert at it. Persistence overshadows even talent when it comes to becoming good at something.

It is not hard to learn Rally driving. Practice makes a man perfect so play it as much as possible. If you want to win the game and want to be expert at it then you must play it for a long time to understand it features and to be speedy at it.

Practice, practice and more practice. Try to look up to some real rally drivers, learn the tracks in and out and start out slow at first, working your way up.

If you find yourself in a rut, not being able to progress, change your approach to it and change up some stuff that you've been doing the same so far. Make it a challenge.

And also as some of the people here have mentioned, get the games physics down to a T and you will be on your way to becoming the best you can be.

With each new time you play, you end up perfecting something... So, the more times you play, the faster you'll improve. It's almost like a rule. :)

There's really not much into aside from constant practice. And by constant, I mean every day if possible. Constant practice will help you memorize the tracks easier, which is a key note to it as you'll find yourself figuring out how to get across certain curves smoothly. It's like a fighting game, it will take time to master but you'll get the hang of it with constant playing.

The golden rule, practice makes perfect applies here. I think that when it comes to the Dirt games, the more you play the better you will become at playing it.

This rule can be easily applied to the vast majority of games. Practice always brings closeness to perfection (since perfection can never be achieved).

Know the routes of the drive thoroughly that's very important. Do a lot of practice and master the driving parts and buttons of the ride. Practice again and again.
