Sales figures for GTA V have now topped 40 million units, and that's an incredible figure. Aside from Wii Sports (included with the console), it's been a long time since a game has reached those kinds of numbers. Does the game reach 50 million units sold?
They are really setting all kinds of records. I still remember them breaking some record the first day they released the game. I think they deserve it out of all major game companies out there right now and the others should really be taking notes.
Yeah, definitely. Rockstar might have delayed the heck out of Heists and then the PC version, but they've made up for glitches and issues from the release day. They've given us so much free content and such an immersive world. I can't complain.
I think that by now that figure is a lot higher. Just put it this way I think that this game is the best video game of all time and I think that it will be the best selling game in the history of video games. I just cannot see any game coming right now that will be able to match the level of this game.
Agreed. Definitely worth the wait even though it took years you know they are not the type of company to do so without good reason and the final product they released makes it all worthwhile.
I think that based upon the entire package, it is indeed the best game ever made or at least within the top five games. There are games with better stories or graphics or whatever, but GTA V is a complete package that just blows a lot of other things out of the water. As for becoming the best-selling game ever, that's not going to happen. It's 55 million units short of the mobile version of Tetris, nearly 40 million behind Wii Sports, and then 20 million behind Minecraft.
The game is a big success, and it definitely deserved the hype created. Curious to see how the future is going to pan out for Rockstar after this big release!
Wow that is a good record and a lot of sales. I mean the game is good. I am still playing though, because I have started playing other games haha. The game is a huge success and that is a really good thing. I know people that thought it would be horrible when it comes out, but when I started playing I knew it would be a great game.
No matter what Rockstar does with future games, it's going to be tough to match these kinds of sales figures. Even GTA VI will have trouble doing that, whether the game is considered a vast improvement over GTA V or not. I'm not sure where Rockstar goes from here, but we might not see success like this ever again from them, regardless of the quality or popularity of its games.
Wow, that's a lot. GTA V is really a successful game, well they deserved it because they did a great job for making it.
They deserve all the sales and I think it's amazing so many people ran out and bought the game new. The used game market usually hurts the sales of new games, but Rockstar made such a good game that people didn't want to wait to buy it used. That's quite an accomplishment.
I agree 100%. It's crazy. I wonder what the used copy sales are at this point, though. Probably a few more million, right?
Given the amount of work that went into all of the editions (old gen, current gen and PC), the amount of features, the sheer amount of fun the game consists of and the gigantic cost of production, I think they definitely deserve all the records they are breaking. Rockstar made a masterpiece this time, and I am sure that this game will go (if it isn't already) down in history as a defining one for the open-world genre.
Yeah, it's difficult for me to imagine what else they could add since this last one was so full but then again it's what is the case for me with every version but they continue to surprise me every time.
You never know. GTA V was a big surprise for me, personally. I didn't expect all those features added and I definitely didn't expect the game to be as fluid and good as it is. Developers have their ways to surprise us.
Those are huge numbers! The game is so successful. I remember they made some kind of marketing scheme with the Summer Steam Sale... Maybe that bumped up their sale units, but there were pretty unsatisfied buyers.
Well deserved. I enjoyed playing it over again on PS4 after already beating it on PS3. Might pick it up for PC again this fall, hopefully for cheap by then.
It looks like it doubled(GTA V) the units to 80 million sold since its release in 2013 so its been out there for 4 years-and its making to much money right now-and thats why there is no hint of putting out a sequel. They say its bringing in more money now than ever before-so there is no telling how many units they could sell total in the future ?
That's actually really weird, because the game is 60 euros here. And considering that not a lot of people have money to buy games, 60 euros is a lot of money. Didn't expect that many people buying the game but it's worth it.
Depends on where you live. The very reason the game is holding its full price is because it's still selling well. That said, this must be the highest selling game of all time now, which is quite an achievement.
