If you guys have played F1 2013, you will realize that the AI is a bit too hard. They really compete like real players. Sometimes more than that to be honest. It seems as though they have made it impossible for someone to win. Now, this level of difficulty is good for those who are pros, but for someone like us, it makes things a little bit difficult. Have you guys played it? Don't you think AI is bit too hard?

I used to play on professional level, and that was perfect for me. I used to get pole by only 0.2 seconds from the AI. I'm interested in seeing how I compare to the AI on the new difficulty settings. It wasn't the lap times that were hard for me in the old game, it was overtaking the AI without getting penalties. I felt like the penalty system was mostly unjust and penalised the driver for making daring moves. In F1, if a driver were to brake late and go up the inside, the other driver would see that in their mirrors and give them space. In the game however, the AI never deviate from the racing line making overtaking that bit harder.
Am I the only one who plays games for the challenge? If I can easily beat a game, then it's just not as interesting. I'd much rather get beat by the AI over and over again causing me to learn new skills and advance my game play. That said, if I go days and keep losing - I'm likely to give up and move on.
That's what I am talking about here. I am going to give up on any game that has too advanced AI mechanics. I mean, look at games like Dark Souls and Demon's Souls. These games are way too hard and I know there are so many people who have given up on it.
I have most certainly improved in my skills and I've been steadily upping the AI difficulty since I first started playing. I now play with traction control off, AI on professional, and full rules and flags. That said, the next difficulty up (legend) is just far too hard for me. I am roughly 3 seconds behind the last car per lap. Not sure if it's because I'm on an Xbox and have less control than someone with a racing wheel, or if it's because I need to use custom set ups per race rather than the quick set up car modes.
It's tough, which I LOVE, so it takes a lot of practice which is good IMO as hopefully it'll teach people better race craft for when they move more into more "SIM-like" games.
The game is ridiculously difficult compared to F1 2012. I am playing on XBOX and have reverted to 2012, where I already completed 5 seasons in career mode and now run single races.
From my point of view it feels like the AI lost a bit speed in the 2013. But they are more agressive if it come to wheel to wheel racing. It makes a lot more fun. The tyre degradation is also okay. Can not really see it on the tire itself but you can really feel when the grip goes down. I am looking forward to good AI mod or an improvement which comes from CM directly. The rest is pretty cool.
This is my exact views also about this game. I have it pc and trust me when I say it is the most difficult driving game I have ever played. I have never won a race either. My best finish was probable about 5th. I think the developers should release a patch that makes it a little easier for the average gamer like myself.
The AI in the F1 games are based normally on the drivers that they represent in real life, so you have to take that into consideration.
I like difficult games, because they are representing a challenge for me to beat this game. I play AI in the F1 2013 and I found it really fun, when I have to master some skills just to be at a better place at the end of the race, I like that in the games that I play.
I think that it is better when the games are difficult because to me when they are too easy they get boring really quickly and I stop playing them. I just like the challenge and I really do not find them to be really that hard anyway. If you asked me I would tell you that I think that the AI on Mario Kart are a lot harder then these
I get frustrated with difficulty, but I think that I am more frustrated when a game is so easy it doesn't provide enough of a challenge to make me actually work for it.
I agree, if the AI is too hard then the game gets less interesting. I don't want to spend a longer time than usual getting good at a game, it takes the fun out. I did try F1 out at a friends place, but at that time I just didn't like the gameplay, something about it, didn't seem right, so never bothered to get it.
at the highest difficulty it doesn't make the computer perform better it gives them the ability to cheat and get perfect runs. its not even remotely fun being demolished by a bunch of perfect AI opponents.
The AI is a little challenging and sometimes borderline unfair on higher difficulties. I still manage to have fun, though.
Actually it is a little too hard for regular players. If you aren't the kind of person who is experimented with these kind of games, you shall easily give up playing after just a few races due to the impossibility of winning a race as an amateur, on the other hand if you are not a regular player, it is a perfect challenge for you.
Agree, and F1 2014 is no better. AI still is way too hard. Player's car is a bit more driveable, but AI even at amateur level has unfair advantage - tires last way longer, all other aspects AI has clear advantage. Of course, maybe after 200+ hours with F1 2012, 13, and 14, I am just no good. There are lots of AL levels. Surely codemasters could make one level competitive for "we who cannot drive" but enjoy the sport just the same. It has been all downhill for this game since the 2012 version. And now to get 2015, we have to buy a new box(I play on Xbox) which will not play the previous versions. Thanks, Microsoft, for abandoning backward compatibility!
I hope that the next game of this series is a bit easier. F1 2014 was not different either. It was a bit harder.
